Not that this one is that great either in terms of common sense and general knowledge. It wasn't too long ago that I saw someone say James Kirkland is already better than Mike Tyson because he's faced stiffer opposition......

    So, point taken.

All I'm saying is that some of us are smart enough to realize that it really doesn't make much of a difference. I'd just like to hear Naazim's funny and insightful quotes inbetween rounds where I was getting my face smashed in.

I'd take Floyd Sr from the choices here. I think no one can deny his knowledge as evidence of Jr.s development. If it were me or my son I'd pick Emmanuel Stewart. If his fighter's actually does what he instructs (jermain Taylor and Kermit Cintron) He would be considered more on this list.

probebly Roach, because hes the only one who speaks ****ing English, even if it is mumbly.

I would go out of my way not to have Floyd Sr in my corner
'ugg ayy ugg uhhh shoulder roll uhgg uhh ay umm *******!'

****m seems like the flavour of the month all of a sudden, but it wouldnt be bad to have him in the corner. he speaks very clearly, gives solid, basic advice, and uses such colorful sayings that my mind would be tripping in imagination land which would calm me down in the middle of the fight.

I would actually pick Ronnie Shields over anyone else.

I imagine it means much more who you trained with leading up to the fight and how you trained, and means very little who actually ends up in your corner on the night of the fight though. Trainers can give good advice, but most the time fighters just go out there and do what theyre programmed to do anyway.

Yeah, he has that aura to him. He's the type of dude I'd just love to talk boxing with. ****, probably life too.

Rather have Roach in my corner, Floyd Sr isn't someone I would get on well with as he personally makes me sick, he is crude and classless. I don't really like beratting opposition either.

I think it's important to have someone you respect and like in your corner as if **** gets rought they're going to be your morale support.

depends on where you are in your career.

if you're an old dude go with ****m richardson

if you need some star power behind you w/ some good mitt work go w/ floyd sr.

if you're looking for a long term loyal trainer who will develop you, go w/ roach

if you're a young mexican go w/ nacho w/ raw talent

              if you're a cotto-wanna go w/ evangelista.

I pretty much agree here. In the gym especially mitt work you want Sr., you dont want him in the corner because you cant understand him. Example, "Oscar do this man, hit him, combination....brrrrrrrrrrrr......brrrrrrrrrrrrr."

but at what point do we give Roger credit for developing Floyd into the professional fighter he is? Floyd Sr has only briefly had Jr as a professional fighter while Roger has led Jr's helm for a lot longer.

granted I understand he is the one who showed Floyd how to box when he was a kid but I got to think credit for Jr's pro career belongs to Uncle Roger and not Sr.

                  and as for my choices.

for strategy- Nacho. He develops solid game plans and backups for his fighters. He sees a fight and makes adjustments accordingly.

for heart and effort- Roach- he puts everything he has into creating his fighter and IMO I think its taken a toll on his body

underated- Rudy Perez and Joe Goossen. Rudy made Israel Vazquez a better fighter than Roach did. Joe is very good at communicating.

I rather train with Sr. because of his defensive knowledge and tactics.

However, I rather have ****m or Roach in my corner during fights. I cant understand **** Sr. says and you cant go wrong with advice from ****m during rounds or Roach's calm approach to make you relax inbetween rounds.

I dont know they are all great trainers. However, in my corner I rather have someone level headed so they can talk to me properly and I can understand them.

Not "jajahjha bam with the right then jahfjdsbas straight."

i picked roach for the poll, but the trainer i would like in my corner would be Joe Goossen. He doesnt bull**** you, and he'll tell it how it is, but at the same time he has confidence that you can win. Good motivator.
