WHy do people have no respect for Ricky Hatton, face it the guy has guts!

Anyone who is a boxing fan rather than a hater will gain respect for him as long as he puts up a good, competitive fight - he doesn't need to win.
Marquez gained respect when he lost to Pacquiao; Rafael Marquez gained respect when he lost to Vasquez; Barrera and Morales both gained respect when they lost to each other. The fact that you call him a midget shows you're just a hater.Comment

I didn't say the Marquez's were in the same category as Hatton, I made the point that any fighter who puts up a competitive fight against the P4P king deserves a lot of respect; and that you can lose a fight and still gain respect.Comment

Look even if he loses to pac, so what theres no shame in having your ONLY! 2 loses against the last 2 pound for pound kings.....mayweather takes his balls and hides them under a rock...at least ricky is all about taking on new challenges...give the man some respect...and what happens if he fights a close fight and loses to pac...will he get some of you guys respect then?.....i think ricky is coming into this fight with a chip on his shoulders...hearing from fans, experts, and media "he doesn't belong" with pac.Comment

I'm not convinced that many fans wanted it back then. If Witter hadn't lost to Bradley, it might have happened, because the Bradley fight was on free terrestrial TV and had a huge audience - he just needed to beat some world class fighters impressively. The two times he had a real chance to make waves, against Judah and Bradley, he blew it.

do he outboxed collazo, knocked him down within the first minute and took his belt...i take the pepsi challenge with anybody to say ricky won that fightComment

That round wasn't typical of him, he hits and holds a lot but not normally anywhere near that much (and under Floyd Snr, I believe he'll do it less than before anyway). Judging him on that one round is like judging Hopkins solely on the round where he put Holmes down with low blows, or Duran solely on the round where he did the same to Buchanan.Comment

Are you willing to take the Pepsi Challenge to say Ricky will beat Pac? And anyways, Collazo did have a bad start, but in the end I did see him taking a lead(not a comfortable one) later on that fight. Plus, Pac KD's Marquez three times in the first round and the fight was still a draw, so a 1st round KD doesn't guarantee a victory to anyone.Last edited by Jean28; 03-24-2009, 08:34 PM.Comment
