    When should fighters quit?

So Mayweather is coming back.I'm a big fan of his but I'm not excited about this.Floyd could come and dominate ,winning almost every round with any fighter the way he used to but then it doesnt take long to age.Hatton doesnt want Mayweather at the moment,he wants him next year ,hoping that Floyd will have slowed down a lot. That way he thinks he can beat Floyd then get his knighthood and retire.Does Floyd really have to fight after taking more than one year absence.I know Vitali did this and a few others but that's more of an exception than the rule.

We have all seen what happened to Roy Jones. The guy was untouchable during his peak.Had he retired after the Ruiz fight his legacy would have been untouchable.Look at Tyson getting knocked out by people like Danny Williams.

It pains me watching Evander Holyfield losing to an Eastern European guy who noone has heard of after what he achieved in the ring.Mohammed Ali is a very sad case and the list goes on.Sometimes it is difficult to understand why fighters keep fighting.

I'm not sure if this is just a black thing, where black fighters just keep fighting while white fighters move on to other things.I'm not sure, someone might need to highlight me on whether white fighters come back and get beaten senseless by some non en******.

The thing is when should fighters call it a day?

When they don't want to fight, or cannot fight at a peak level anymore.

Fighters should stop fighting when the desire to fight is not there anymore. Look at 50 year old Thomas Hearns actually talking about unretiring in an interview. Doesent matter what age you are, when you don't want to do it anymore, you retire.

I think its more an american thing than a black thing. And not just in boxing either.
It seems to be a ploy to get more money a lot of the time.
When Europeans retire it's usually when they actualy, really want to retire.

What is it with fans trying to pinpoint the right moment for fighters to retire? Look, I LOVE boxing. I don't just love elite level boxing. I love boxing. I don't like to have to pay PPV, but I'll watch just about any fight if there's a good stream or tv coverage of it. If Lacy-Jones happens I'm going to try to find a way to watch it. So, when it comes to someone like Floyd Mayweather wanting to make a comeback I say that's great. If boxers want to fight then good for them. The only thing I'm against is fighters who can't pass physical exams getting around the rules by fighting in places that either have no rules or don't enforce rules. Otherwise, if they want to fight let 'em.
