The HW division has always "******" then since it never has had more than 1-3 really good fighters during any era. People that think the HW division "sucks" now only think that way because there's no dominant African-American HW Champion or even a single contender right now. Brock was the last AA hope and Wlad extinguished that hope decisively!

This era of HW's is way underrated and it would be competitive with any other era, head to head...

good analysis....but could this be a world perception?...like in america and latin america lots of people just ignore the heavyweight division altogether....but in europe it seems popular...like in germany the k's are drawing 54% of a television audience

Boxing has always been a nationalistic and ethnic sport. If Wlad and Vitali were African-Americans I have no doubts that they would be hailed as legends and be huge in America right now like they are in Germany, Russia and most of Europe. Lewis was also never really a huge star in the USA and only became a household name because he fought the last 2 (even though they were way past their prime) really good AA HW's, Holyfield and Tyson...

so most boxing fans are black?

More than 95% of boxing fans are non-black so how is your theory even plausible.

The Boxing Writers of America just voted Pacquiao as the fighter of the year. The same so called ppl who aren't very accepting of the present day non-American HW land scape. They could have easily voted for Hopkins if they were so prejudice because he is after all an "African-American".

Truth is, Wladimir is only original in the fact that he is a hw champ that is a combination of boring and chicken ****. Foreman and Frazier had balls and weren't afraid of getting hit and went for the exciting ko finish every round they were in. and some can argue that Ali was a runner but atleast he was entertaining.

Wlad is a runner that puts ppl to sleep. That is whats the problem with the HW division today, its not because there isn't an "African-American" champ.

Many white people in America believe that blacks are superior athletes and why they claim that the best American HW's are playing in the NBA and NFL now that Europeans are dominating the HW division. That's also why movies like "The Great White Hype or Hope" and "White Men Can't Jump" were made, but maybe those movies never happened because apparently my "theory" isn't "plausible"...

Larry Holmes was a jabber and wasn't hated anywhere near the degree as Wlad. When Wlad fought reckless and "exciting" by brawling it cost him 3 losses, 1 by getting caught and 2 by punching himself out. When Wlad fought "exciting" he was just as hated on every board as he is now. It's better to be hated and victorious!

If Wlad and Vitali weren't going for the KO's, then why do they have the highest KO% of any HW Champions ever?

Despite the boring match on Saturday (which all but extinguished my admiration for Vitali's skills), I still have Dimitrenko to support. He's the man of the future in my view.

i see a lot of you forgot that when wlad first came out he the american media was hyping him up as the next big thing snd thats why had that part in ocean 11 but this all changed when he lsot to sanders and LB and most american fans and media changed there veiw of him.

and with both brothers as champs we wont have one champ because they wont fight each other.
