AA's turtle shell defense and approx 20 punches per round won't be enough, He has the power to change the fight with one punch, but it would need to be that "Tarver'esk" punch Pav doesn't see coming. I see him using his high volume and great power to end this inside 10 rounds. All I know, is this fight HAS TO HAPPEN!!! NO other fight in the MW division means **** and that's not any one fighters fault, it's just not a deep division. If Pav wins and wins big, well, we may see him stay put at MW as a previous poster said. If he wins by a standard margin, I definitely see him jumping up to SMW.

That's why Williams vs. Winky is the REAL middleweight championship of the world. Linear is not as important as having the best fight the best. Bums get to hold linear belts all the time. Even Zsolt Erdei has a linear belt.

I don't understand how a bunch of you idiots sit here and say that AA's defense, and low punch output (which is not really that low) will not be enough to defeat a one dimensional fighter like Pavlik. But, you guys are the same that **** ride Hopkins and claim him as some defensive genius, who throws just enough to bore, I mean win.

He can risk it all against AA. Probably a better payday then against any of the other fights at 160, but nowhere near the money from the second fight with Taylor or the Hopkins fight. So he could move up in weight right? I don't think 168 looks as financially lucrative as it has been over the last couple years. Outside of fighting Chad Dawson at 168, which I don't see happening, what is there? I don't think Kessler-Pavlik would generate a lot of money.
Kelly may have to be content ruling middleweight (unless he has problems making weight), cleaning up the division, and weight for takers to come to him. The problem -- HBO/Showtime do not appear to want to pay for tuneup defenses unless there is a big fight to build off it. If Pavlik is relegated to lower-tier PPV bouts, he may lose the fan base that he built against Miranda and Taylor.
We all want the Abraham fight, but the fight that I think in the next year or so that would be the best for Kelly would be James Kirkland, should Kirkland wish to move up in weight. Given the promotion that Kirkland has been getting from HBO in the last year, they could sell that. Good fight for fans. Also makes since for both fighters, since neither is developed enought to challenge elite slick boxers.
Pavlik could have become the biggest draw in boxing. He has a fan friendly style because he comes to fight. The problem is he hasn't learned his trade. The second fight with Taylor should have been the wake-up call, but he persisted with his dreams and delusions until Hopkins gave him a very rude awakening. As to whether he has cleaned up his act and got back to learning his trade will never be known until he faces a capable boxer. There will always be a thousand suggestions about whom he should fight, but does it really make any difference? If he ducks the tough fights he won't make any money, if he takes them he risks another embarrassing boxing lesson.

Let aa come with that high guard and see what kind of shape his ribs are in come the 7th round. Have you seen a Pavlik fight? Take note of the way he works the body. Your boy is in for a LONG night if he thinks he is going to cover up on the ropes and be gifted rounds like when he fights in Germany.
