I can't wait to find the next guy I'll connect with. The way I connected with Hopkins, Jones, Barrera, Whitaker, Corrales, and Marquez.

    Hopkins first though. Always.

oh yea, after Marvin retired, as a kid, i thought boxing was just a 'fad' for me...then Mike came around...

That’s the beauty of the whole thing…having a true love/addiction to the sweet science, someone will come up…and when that person makes their mark with you, it’s a brand new ball game…interest reloaded…

Plus with the internet boom and the easy access to up and coming fighters, its gonna be almost impossible to NOT find someone interesting

Boxing will be okay, we have some decent athletes & I think our prospects will be ready to to step up once our present greats pass the torch. 09 has been great for boxing so far, I can't wait to see what the rest of the year has in store.

Its because you mothafukers put too much stock in losses and undefeated records. If one of these prospects were to lose, yall stank ass ***** ass ****s automatically brush them to the side.

            I feel the same way.

There is no guy out there that makes you think"Yeah" this guy is gonna be a Superstar. Maybe Ortiz has the X factor, but there are not many others.

First off, this isn't one of those "boxing is dead" threads. So if you came here looking for that, you can click "back" right about.....now.

              Alright, onto the thread.

I'm simply not excited about any of these new guys who are supposed to be the next generation of good boxers. Please tell me I'm not alone in this.

None of them grab me, they all seem to be a bunch of very rusty, very easy to figure out kids who don't have any love for the sport. I think half of them will end up getting destroyed by pretty much any top 10 fighter in their division right now.

Boxing seemed so much better when I started watching it in '95. We had all kinds of talent, everywhere. From '95-'05 we had guys like Jones, Hopkins, Toney, Mayweather, Barrera, Morales, Pacquiao, Marquez, Lewis, Holyfield, De La Hoya, Whitaker, Trinidad, Lopez, etc, etc, etc....

These guys dominated everybody in sight.

I look at this new crop of guys who are supposed to be their replacements in the future......Guys like Andre Berto, Robert Guerrero, Juan Manuel Lopez, Juan Diaz, etc.... And I feel.....nothing.

They're alright kids, and I'll watch them fight no doubt, but I don't connect with any of them, the way I did so many guys throughout the 90's.

I can't see myself ever cheering for one of them the way I cheered that night I lept out of my recliner when Hopkins knocked out Trinidad, or the way I screamed at the Television in support of Barrera the night he fought Morales the first time, or the way I've turned down sex for a Roy Jones or Pernell whitaker fight.

I just can't ever see myself connecting with any of these kids.

I know they're young yet, and I know that all legends are made the same way.

But I just don't connect to any of these kids.

Does anybody else get what I'm trying to say here?
              Boxing is fine.............................................. .................

unless yo live in the states like i do
.................................................. ...New guys that bring in lovable personas(to their fans) are Juan Manuel Lopez, Victor Ortiz, Andre Berto, Fernando Montiel, Juan Diaz, Edwin Valero, Robert Guerrero , Chris Arreola, Alfredo Angulo,Chris John, (potentially(Breidis Prescott),Etc.

The states is in life support in boxing,

Ortiz will be schooled by Bradley.

I get what youre saying, but people fail to realize just how good the 90s were in terms of boxing talent. I mean, almost all the divisions were stacked, and its showing up to today, since we have old guys still ruling the divisions.

but Victor Ortiz is a huge prospect to me. hes dominating everyone so far, in nasty fashion. and hes very young.
JuanMa Lopez shows that kind of exciting dominance too.
Ill talk about Danny Jacobs if he ever fights someone whos slightly dangerous.

                      I REALLY WISH
                      SOLO BOXEO

                      Hadn't been canceled.....
They had TONS OF FIGHTERS exposed that have become great fighters over the years.
kinda makes me go back to that free televised thing.
