Wladimir on cuts stoppage. Vitali hasn't faced that good of a boxer, besides past his prime/out of shape Lewis (who he lost to)

Vitali could take Wlads best shot but could Wlad take Vitali's shot?

You really think Wlad's jab would keep Vitali from landing on him? Lewis couldnt keep Vitali away with his jab or power, Wlad wouldnt be able to and Wlad wouldnt be able to take Vitali's shots and pressure.

I think Wlad is still the #1 heavyweight in the world. He is on a 10 fight winning streak, has 3 belts (IBF/WBO/IBO) and has successfully defended them 6 times.

        why pick one over another???

it is damn ******ed why some people always have to have a number 1.

we have 2 big boys at top, lets be thankful that we have two big hitters with skill.

        really

there is never a legit number one. well most of the time no doubt

          Why?

Since it's pretty much obvious that the two of them will never decide who is the better fighter in the RING, all we can do is speculate. Which is what this board is for.

              lol, you know.

I love it how ppl come into these forums and say things like "why are you ppl debating or discussing this issue".

its basically like saying "why do those boxers have to punch each other".

I agree with the person that stated nobody is beat either right now. Even though I could care less about Russia because of their depise for our great country I might cheer on Povetkin if & when he fights the Klits. Arreola is my boy, but I don't see him with much of a chance

You can argue about who should be #1 for whateva reason but the fact is that Vitali is clearly the better fighter so he should be #1

Yeah but most of the time when you have 2 guys clearly at the top of any division, you wanna see them fight, but as we all know that will never happen. Hence we have to just discuss these things, it is a forum after all.

I would have Wlad top as he has done the most over the past fews years and i'm surprised boxrec would have Vitali first even though I think he is the better fighter. I think it might be due to the fact that you get more points winning the title from a top 5 HW than you do for just retaining the title and as Vitali won his in the past year, he gets the nod. Plus Wlad hasn't fought since December.

Lewis was old, out of shape, hadn't fought in a year, and took the fights on two weeks notice. Lewis was still able to win two rounds off him too.

Vitali wouldn't be able to get in range and if Wlad moves after he jabs, I don't think Vitali would be able to find him.
