    Here's my stance:

I LIKE Roy. But he needs to keep fighting at this level, or retire. I believe he'd get hurt against any top 10 LHW out there, possibly even seriously. He is no longer at contendership level, IMO.

So it dismays me to see people still believing he could go further, and trying to press for a Glen Johnson rematch. Roy is worse now than he was four+ years ago, and he was badly hurt then.

So I'm not "hating", I'm just trying to call - in my own unique way - an end to those wishing Roy to continue. Because what they're actually asking for is Roy to potentially get hurt... and THOSE are the real "haters". They just don't know it.
I agree with you. But I don't know, I think Glen Johnson and Tarver are beatable, only because they are in their 40's too.....

    but you could be right...

I'll concede now that Tarver did look bad in his last outing. But then he was fighting a much faster, fresher man.

We already know that both men are capable of KOing Roy. Ideally I'd like him to go out on this fight with his health intact.

        Peace.

oh I agree 100%, I'd ideally like to see him retire with this fight...but he doesn't want to, its too bad.

Sheika was tailor made for Jones and I still think Jones is pretty much done but his handspeed is still pretty damned fast, especially for a 40 year old guy.

yeah I think its fair to say, the way Roy looked as far as his speed and combos was surprising last night.....I know it was against Sheika(low class fighter). But I doubted he could perform that good against any fighter at 40. Like I've said if Roy wants to fight these kind of fighters and maybe some guys in their 40's, thats ok to me. But stay away from elite fighters and the prime fighters....

although part of me wonders how tailor made was he? alot of RJJ fans were telling me this guy is tough as nails and keep coming....and he throws alot of punches. They also said, that roy is completley shot and Sheika had a chance. Plus Sheika was 8 year younger. I think Roy made Sheika look a little worse than he was, not to say Sheika was a great win, but at 40 in Roy's condition...not a bad one.

These little farewell fights in Pensacola are good for him and for the fans but don't put them on PPV, they don't deserve to be there and I think the numbers will indicate that whenever they get the numbers. I agree though, Jones needs to stay away from the top guys and the younger, fresher guys, can't see him beating them.

Sheika was designed to make Jones look good, a guy that comes forward, not very good at cutting off the ring, not the fastest guy in the world, leaky defense, hadn't fought in 17 months I think etc. all made Jones look like he was back but looking past that I only saw an old guy with surprisingly fast hands for his age, the only real improvements I saw was that he used his jab a lot more than he normally does, he still has a very good jab.

don't get me wrong silencers. i'm being realistic here, and you can see that by my posts. I'm not saying Roy is back, nobody is back at 40. lol

but he did not look old to me last night. It was weird(I know it was Sheika), but he looked better than he did against Prince Badi, Trinidad and Hanshaw. How about the combinations and the energy to keep throwing them? He did look good......it must have been just Sheika was so bad I guess...

but I agree, he should retire or continue to fight these fight for people like me... It was a fun night for RJJ fans.
