I've always said Cotto's chin is underrated.

He's taken some heavy shots from guys like Mosley, Zab, Torres, and Margarito who all punch hard and even in the Margarito fight he fought all the way to the 11th rd and took a knee (Plaster or Not).

I think it's just the way Cotto's been phased in the past (Chop Chop and Torres mainly) that gives people the notion that he's got a shaky chin.

Now obviously he doesn't have a monstrous beard, but he can take a lickin and still fight.

What's the next step above slightly above average...very above average? You feel like Cotto has a very above average chin?

I'm a huge Cotto fan, but I'm just being real. We've seen him badly rocked twice (Corley and Torres). And granted those both happened at 140, but still, do you get that feeling that "oh Cotto won't get knocked out."

Even after what Shane did to Tony, I feel like that was an aberration. If Cotto got KO'd I wouldn't be shocked. His chin is fine, it's not something to worry about, he proved that in the Shane and Tony fights. But it sure as **** aint granite. Hence, slightly above average...like a B-/B type chin.
oh ok. I though you were saying that basiclly his chin is nothing to brag about.

You only here talk about CHINS when the subject is a guy that gets hit a LOT.

Floyd has a good chin..but people seldom mention it.

        Wonder why??

Maybe because he doesn't get walked into the same donkey-ass punches over and over again...like Cotto.

Ali had a damn good chin..but that's not the first thing people think about when they hear his name.
cosign.....exactly what i was gonna say. if cotto has any flaws, its his defense, he takes too many shots.....but the fans like that right?

he has a good chin tho.....its gotten him this far....

          a "chin" is relative anyway......

all it takes is the right fighter w/ the right gameplan. we all said margarito had a GREAT chin before he fought mosley. IMO, the more pressing questions about cotto are relative to his defense. he takes too many shots! if the question relates to his ability to do that, then there's no argument: cotto's ability to take some hard **** is quite impressive! but until he corrects the flaws in his defense, the possibility remains for him to get KO'ed when he fights anybody who throws hard ****, and can stand up to cotto's punches in return. as i said before.....sooner or later.....

Cotto out-weighed Judah by quite a bit..that had a lot to do with it.

If Zab had the weight advantage Cotto would have been in deep ****.

He doesn't have a world class chin but it is very respectable.
