As long as Roy doesnt fight scared and he stays aggressive and throws 4 and 5 punch combos he still can beat alot of LHW. As far as bernard goes, he couldnt put Pavlik down so maybe he doesnt have the pop he used to have so I would give the edge to Roy, but dawson is another story, If RJJ can sustain a 60 to 70 punch output for at least 6 rounds then I give him a chance against dawson but tonight we really didnt get to see how is conditioning affects him when he throws alot of punches like he did tonight. Agains Calzaghe, he really didnt throw ****, maybe 35 punches per round.
Poll: Roy Jones Jr vs Bernard Hopkins or Chad Dawson

RJJ is done if you like it or not fighting a corpse in Shieka does not erase the ass whoppings he took from the fighters who are less than Hopkins.lmao. hopkins is 44, hes great at 44, buts hes 44. Roy has a chance against fighters in their 40's.....
i'm a big hopkins fan. #2 favorite fighter of all time. hes always struggles with flashy speed guys, roy still has that hand speed. not like it was, but hes still faster than Hopkins.Comment

your not even listening to what i'm saying......
i said myself that roy was done on an elite level, i just made a thread about it.....
but hopkins, glen johnson etc. are old enough to where roy could win, imo.
these guys are past their primes too.....
roy shouldn't fight prime fighters in their 20's and early 30's.Comment

He never looked that good before? I dunno, how many times have you actually seen him fight? I can name at least 5 fights where Hopkins has performed better. Perhaps not against the same caliber of opponent, but still. We're talking ability of possibly the greatest middleweight of all-time. Hopkins would destroy Roy right now. Styles make fights, and that's why I'd say Roy has a better chance against Dawson than Bernard. Dawson prefers counter punching and using his legs. Also he gets hurt. Roy's laser fast punches might catch him. Who has Dawson fought with the speed of Roy (even at 40). I'd pick Dawson to win, but Roy's style could bother Dawson. If Bernard puts Roy on the ropes, he will rip him apart on the inside with his accurate punches. Also, Roy seems to react off of every feint these days. He gets intimidated, and Hopkins capitalizes off of this mistake (see Trinidad).Comment

I'd like to See Nard and Roy settle the score, once and for all. Mega bout (pending Roy puts some wins together and Hop wins his scheduled bout) and I think it would do huge numbers for both. The outcome, Roy by UD.Comment

I had never seen him before his fight with Keith Holmes.....but what I am try to infer is that it would be unlikely that he is going to put on another performance that was as masterful as he had in the Pavlik fight at his age....He never looked that good before? You have a point, the geezer can only turn back the clock so many times. Still, I am confident Bernard is every bit competent enough to lay Roy on his back.Comment

Win a close UD against him with the right game plan perhaps.....But maybe this could come down to which old guy is having a better night physically.Comment

Physically? Roy will be faster, Bernard will be there mentally. It will come down to who is there mentally. Bernard is an intimidating fighter to stand in front of you throwing feints and roughing you up. You can't tell whether he's coming in for a clinch or landing a very accurate lead right hand. He will bully Roy into the ropes and do what he wants with in and out movements and accurate punching. Roy will shine in parts, but like against Calzaghe he will lose his confidence. In the end Roy gets schooled by the master.Comment
