I'm not saying Roy is back(I believe he is done on elite level)

but was anyone else surprised he looked about 30-32 tonight instead of 40?

I know it was sheika, but Roy looked great as far as his speed and combos......

like i said, i'm not saying hes back...

I know hes 40, I'm just saying that at 40 he still does some cool things in the ring against lower competition...

hes still fun to watch, if he wants to fight this year and next against guys 35 +, I see no problem with it.....

just no guys in their primes...

It's time for him to go. He did what he had to do and now he can retire on a victory, which is what I'd like most as a fan. It was a fight he was supposed to win, but seein him do it like he did just made the night of a couple cats over here, includin me.

i know he should retire. he should have retired 4-5 years ago.

but i'm saying if he wants to fight lower level fights against guys 35 +, I don't see a problem with it. just stay away from guys in their primes or elite fighters at the top...

just like fun fights for his fans.....and i think he likes doing it too

I'd have no problem with that, but you know it could never happen like that. When a once-great fighter strings together a few wins in a row, they just can't help but delude themselves into thinking that they've recaptured "it," and then yet again try to make a move to face an elite fighter....

I agree. Nothing wrong with wanting to fight guys your own age. He'll retire when he feels ready.

Honestly if Roy wants to rematch Glen Johnson or Tarver, why not? they are both 40 anyway.......

i mean of course, ideally retirement is the best option, but he doesnt' want to yet...

He did that against some bum* named Calzaghe and got his ass handed to him.

*by the standards of american fight fans anyways, many of whom picked Roy to win that night.

I never called Calzaghe a bum. Calzaghe is a great fighter.

I thought Roy would win, but I didn't really, lol.

I was picking with what I wanted, instead of what I thought...

Fights like these, as a Roy fan, are teasers lol. I want SO BADLY to believe this is the start of a comeback tour for Roy, but I'm not dillusional to think once he steps in with an elite LHW, I will feel that lump in my throat when punches are landed on him in a destructive manner. On the other hand, Roy did show signs of feeling rejuvinated, his speed looked impressive, his combos and footwork seemed to be vintage Roy and he LOOKED like he wanted to fight. This Roy, I will watch until he hangs them up. I say ride this mother****er till the wheels fall off Roy! The fan in me won't EVER say die when it comes to Roy Jones Jr.
