  • For those who dont know much about Juan Carlos Gomez.

He is a very good boxer with decent skills, one of the greatest cruiserweights of all time in my opinion. The guy is 6'4 with a 80 1/2" reach and has a good work rate (threw 1000 punches in a 10 round fight once) Him and Vitali shared the same promoter and trainer once, and are good friends outside the ring, they have also sparred several times when Vitali was preparing to fight a southpaw, in which Gomez gave him problems. His only loss was to Yanqui Diaz when Gomez was on ******* and distracted in life. James Toney declined a fight with him when Gomez was his mandatory which should tell you loads about him.

This was the opinion of Juan Carlos Gomez after sparring with both Klitschko brothers:

Gomez on the world’s top five heavyweights in December of 2003: “Including me on that list, Lennox Lewis should be on that list. Roy Jones. Chris Byrd. And Wladimir Klitschko. Not Vitali. Wladimir. Wladimir’s more technical, better fighter. He moves better, he’s got better range, everything. Don’t really go on that Sanders fight - he got caught.”

Gomez’s 2003 opinion on Vitali: “They’re both solid heavyweights. Vitali’s technique is not that good. But he can crack. He can crack with either hand. You just can’t stay in front of him.”

Gomez’s response when asked if he sparred with the Brothers while all worked with Universum? “Yes. Whenever they fought southpaws, they used me as a sparring partner. We are very good friends.”
