Pacquiao Aims for Four (and Six): Real History Part II

By Cliff Rold - In the first part of this series, designed to culminate the week of the May 2nd showdown between Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2, 36 KO) and World Junior Welterweight champion Ricky Hatton (45-1, 32 KO), Pacquiao’s previous title claims in five weight divisions were examined. Identified were three lineal titles at Flyweight, Featherweight, and Jr. Lightweight. Against Hatton, Pacquiao goes for overall title for lineal title number four. How historically significant would it be? [details]

Thanks Cliff-Keep um coming. I think Duran is pretty straightforward. He was the lineal lightweight destroyer. Brief lineal title at WW and some great fights there, then won a couple of belts at much higher weights. He was involved in tons of legendary fights and took on the best of his generation. The only time he didn't was when he was past his prime. There were so many legends who fought at the same time who all fought each other. But I believe Pac Man would have done the same thing, he doesn't dodge big challenges either.

Don't know if anyone beats him at his prime at LW.

He only has titles at 4 weights not 5.

Not that only having four is bad or anything lol.

                  I counted 5.
I think he's trying to say since his fight with Barrera wasnt for a title by a sanctioning body, it doesnt count.

And so is with Hatton......so what the purpose of making the article about lineal titles?

The Barrera fight WAS for the title. A title more important than the Alphabelts------> The lineal title that Barrera held.
