I was rewatching Pacquiao-Marquez 2 and during the fight Merchant was mentioning that Pacquiao was more than a 2-1 favorite and that it seemed a bit high. Steward agreed and then Lamply went on to say that it is the casinos that make the odds and not the boxing fans, who saw this as a competitive fight.
I thought about that for a while and realized that we as hardcore fans have a good chance at making some money.
I have been making some small bets that seemed like great odds and it has paid off. Considering that it seems like underdogs win all the time, it seems worth it to bet on them sometimes when you can get more than two to one on your money and you know that you have a great shot.
Once you have a betting account its easy to make money. Sometimes it seems like pennys on the dollar(Cotto-Jennings) but it only takes a few seconds to earn it and it adds up. I just try not to bet against a person I really like cause then the fight isn’t as fun to watch.
I just think we could really rake it up in the long run. I started off with 100 and just kept to making small bets and not putting all my eggs in one basket and I am doing great. Just based on reading what you guys think about upcoming fights I can make a smart bet on boxers that I have not seen compete.
Is anybody else doing this? I think it would be cool to see how others were doing in this forum. Maybe a few of us could start with a certain amount and see who makes the most in a year.
