That might be the dumbest statement i have ever heard and there are several ignorant posters on here who are saying this.

What in your eyes suggests that ricky is not a man of the people? What is there backing this?

The guy has a whole ****ing city on his back, not to mention the rest of the ****ing country... Why would tens of thousands of people fly across the world to come see this man fight?

I was at Hatton vs. Collazo, and the british fans would likely all take a bullet for this guy... I sat next to a british fan who told me how he has met ricky on several occasions, and that he is about as genuine as a man can get...

Whether you like hatton as a fighter in the ring, to say he is a fraud out of it, is absolutely ****ing ridiculous.
Good comment.A friend of mine worked as part of his security team for his fights in vegas and said similar things. He said the bloke is generous with his time and his money. He signed loads of stuff for his kid and recorded a personal video message for him on his phone. The guy is class.

That'd be like assuming every boxing fan in America loves Floyd. And I think you're making too much of an issue out of nationalism. Some people just don't give a **** where a fighter is from. Me included. He's either good or he isn't. The country makes no difference. A fighter can be from Mars and have purple skin for all I care.
True. But there's nothing wrong with standing behind your countrymen. I've never heard any Filipino bad mouthing Pacquiao...cept for my Dad of course. But he really doesn't Pacquiao bash, he just sees Paco as another filipino.

Yeah, i know what you mean. But ethnicity or culturalism or nationalism does play an intricate part in boxing. Dating back to Joe Luis vs. Max Schmelling. Why do you think everyone waves flags around like it were a goddamn european soccer game?
