Juan Carlos Gomez: Last chance for a Global Impression

By Cliff Rold - There was a time when his name was on the lips and message board posting of hardcore fight fans. He was one of their hidden gems, safely tucked far from American eyes while racking up a WBC Cruiserweight title reign impressive enough to even provoke a few wonders of whether he might be the man to finally compete with Evander Holyfield as the short historied division’s best. Through nine defenses in a reign which ran 1998-2001, Cuban defector Juan Carlos Gomez (44-1, 35 KO) looked like he might be special. [details]

It is indead good for the sport to be on ESPN, and im tired of waiting for it. I love watching Klitschko fight, and this should be another knockout for the champ. In a day and age when young kids would much rather watch mma, you have the Klitschko's that produce knockouts. This only helps the sport because the biggest complant i hear from mma fans is that boxers just don't get it on, too many boring decisions, well you can thank Byrd and Ruiz for turning the casual fan away, but things should continue to improve as they like to see knockouts and thats what the brothers Klitschko provide.
