That's funny, the guy quit when he was an older man still trying to fight, when you know your body is giving up, and that's not honorable.

You also have to take into consideration Chavez had no amateur career, he had to learn as he went along.

Even if you take half of Chavez's fight out of his record he still has more fights than Mayweather did.

Chavez by KO. He was just too accurate, too strong and too good for Floyd. He had very underrated defensive skills at the lower weights too.

Chavez has beaten better and more effective boxer punchers.

It wouldn't really be easy but I picked Floyd by UD.

Chavez QUIT not because he was older but because he KNEW HE COULDN'T WIN.

Stop making excuses like he was 40 when Randall punked him out.

and yes, people were saying Chavez was slowing down before the Randall fight. I believe the commentary said it in his fight with Andy Holligan, which was the fight right before the Randall fight, and the commentary might have even mentioned it during the Whitaker fight.

all fighters slow down. Not many people probebly thought that Whitaker was going downhill leading up to the Wilfredo Rivera fight, and yet Pernell ended up having a controversial fight with him. I think its pretty clear he had started to fade by then.
              Andy Holligan???

              LOL

              Who the **** is that????

              Dayum!!

Randall was just too much for him..stop making excuses.

              Hell

              Frankie was OLDER than Chavez.

Where the hell do you get this stuff, haha. of all fights to choose from.

and actually, apart from the fact that Chavez was going downhill in the Randall fights, I would choose that version of Randall over Castillo. hell, I would choose that version of Randall over most of the 140lbers and even 147lbers today.

aye, Duran was overall just too good when he was focused. even if his style and mindset didnt work well against movers, he still got the job done in most cases, and thats what matters the most.

and yea, I think we exhausted our discussion in the FF section. It basically turned into 'The weight difference made a big difference in the Castillo fight' and 'It didnt make that big of a difference' over and over again.

I dont think anyone actually comes into these discussions and changes their mind about who they think would win, haha. but I still enjoy talking about them all the same.
Don't forget we also disagreed on the importance of punch output!

The thing, is IF I actually start arguing, it means that I have thought about the matchup a lot. Clearly, by the depth of your points, it is the same for you. However in this thread there is a lot of people who don't have a clue of what they are talking about on both sides. Maybe they will soften their ridiculous stances in the process?

The best 140lb fighter in Britain at the time. It wasnt a big win or anything, I just brought it up because the commentary said Chavez was starting to slip, and you said something along the lines of 'nobody thought Chavez was past prime going into the Randall fight', sooo I decided to show you someone.

and you goofball, prime isnt based on just age. look at Barrera vs. Marquez. I think Marquez was the older of the two, but Barrera was clearly the more worn down fighter.

                    we can only hope.

My interest in this subject is getting a little bored tho, because its kind of repetitive at this point. so I aint gonna last much longer.

I really never post here but after reading all these post i have to put mine.
I truelly believe chavez stops mayweather late. Im not trying to diss anybody in here but see alot of the guys in here are very young and they witness the prime mayweather see went i was like 7 years old my father got me into watching boxing so ive been a boxing fan for 21 years and chavez was one of the greatest fighters in any era. I'm not mexican and i got say that they dont make fighter's like chavez anymore. floyed mayweather would not know what to do with a guy like chavez. Chavez had great boxing skills just that he never had to use them just ask emaunel stewart. WHAT WOULD KILL MAYWEATHER IF THEY EVER FOUGHT I GOTTA SAY THE PRESSURE THAT CHAVEZ PUT ON A BOXER plus the body punches that come with the pressure believe me mayweather would not know what to do. ooooo just one minute why would anybody say that mayweather would even have a chance on knocking out chavez? Don't guys know that chavez had one of the greatest chin in boxing he would walk right threw the punches of mayweather i wont lie i think that mayweather would be able to land acouple of punches but to no effect. chavez beats mayweather in brutal fashion
