Mayweather Jr. vs. JCC***(Prime for Prime)))

youre delusional. Meldrick Taylor is arguably the fastest combination puncher in the history of boxing and probebly one of the worst style matchups ever for Chavez, and Chavez only lost about 116-112 against Whitaker anyway. considering that he was in against Pernell Whitaker(who I consider one of the best fighters ever) and was slowly going downhill before that fight, thats not too bad.
I never said Chavez's defence> Mayweather's, the point was...
Chavez's defence> Castillo's
Chavez's offence>Castillo's
Chavez's infighting> Castillo's
Chavez's ability to cut off the ring>Castillo's
Mayweather had a hard time against Castillo in both fights.
...I mean, youd think he do better than Castillo did against Mayweather, right?
true, but that was the nature of his pressure style. if you fight in the pocket and win mostly by wearing people down, youre going to get hit. He was able to block a high percentage of shots though, and the ones that got through generally didnt hit cleanly either. He still used to get hit quite a lot for a defensive fighter.Last edited by Steak; 03-18-2009, 02:15 AM.Comment

The second fight was not hard at all. The first fight, Mayweather fought with cracked ribs and torn shoulder muscle. Mayweather never quit unlikE SOMEONE ESLEyoure delusional. Castillio was actually bigger than Mayweather( Floyd was actually coming up from super feather), unlike Chavez so i don't think he would have the kind of success he had at bullying Mayweather, and need i remind you of what happened in the rematch? Its not like Chavez didn't struggle with boxer/movers. Had Taylor stuck to his game plan, he could have beaten Chavez without that much of a problem. I like Floyd by tough decision. I think he would win by pot shoting Chavez on the back foot and he definitely had enough power( at that weight) to keep him honest. Taylor was not a hard puncher.Castillo is almost a perfect copy of Chavez, except Chavez is better in almost every way.
Castillo gave Mayweather the two hardest fights of his career, and while Floyd did win the rematch that fight was still very close.
Chavez by decision, loses early rounds but takes over on the inside later on.
Whitaker and Mayweather do not fight alike. me and wmute actually have a pretty good discussion of this in the Fantasy Fights section.(that I won, of course)Comment

floyd takes a close but clear cut UD based on his movement and clean shots
also he wouldnt be getting hit all too often because of his great DComment

yes, the second fight was hard. why else would Mayweather constantly ask his corner if he won the previous round every time he was in the corner? He only won about 7 rounds to 5, 116-112 at best.
and Mayweather never fought past 30 either. prime Chavez never quit now, did he?
it amazes me how someone can go through a career of wars, and be called a coward because he threw in the towel once despite being past prime and having over 100 fights.
just amazing.Comment

Chavez didn't have great defense, that is an overstatement. Even the tapes i have of him in his prime, he still took shots to give them. He was face first. Why was Taylor able to tattoo him at will and keep him spinning for almost over half the fight?Comment
