How often do you think BoxRec is wrong?

I mean I know all the top and known fighters are right but when it comes to unknown fighters from various countries and what not.

I was just watching Juan Manuel Marquez vs Israel Gonzalez.

BoxRec has Gonzalez record listed as 1-6

But in the video Gonzalez is introduced with a record of 13-5 (7 KOs)

Im assuming BoxRec messes up a lot of records. Especially when they have guys listed as 0 fights when you look at knockout artists from say South Americas resume. They probably just put 0 fights because they have no info.

Sometimes boxers are deliberately introduced as having more fights.

Oleg Maskaev fought Oliver McCall, who had KOed Lewis a couple of years before, with a record of only 6-0. But they announced him as being 17-0 or something like that. The fight is in our videos section.

BoxRec is run by volunteers who do a great job. I'm grateful for the time and effort they put into it. I've found it to be accurate about 99.9% of the time, but of course you will find a mistake here and there, they are only human.

I've found it to be fairly accurate, though obviously it's going to have some faults in it.

Apparently Mayorga's record has been wrong for years too.

Also boxrec has Mayweather KO'ing Hatton when it was the ringpost who did it. (Sorry I just had to make this dig at Weebler!)

I've noticed a few little mistakes.

          But its a great site

And most users on this site have based their entire knowledge of boxing on thier records.

Why do they do that? Inflating their records like that?

I've never heard of this before but all I got to say is BoxRec is the best boxing site there is for rankings. I don't take any rankings seriously other than my own, but I respect boxrec's calculated ranking more than any other site.

I trust boxrec more, if you believe the records that the fighters are introduced with during fight time then nobody in boxing would have a worse record than 32-4
