The biggest mistake he made was talking himself up after the fight. "I proved everybody wrong" he said, but what did he prove?
A horrific cut from an accidental clash of heads that the commentators described as looking like something "from a car crash " caused Barerra to be totally and utterly stopped in his tracks.
Not Khan!! Amir Khan had not battered Barerra in round 1, and after that the fight was all but over. Barerras game plan will have gone out of the window and being vitually blinded, he had no possible hope of seeing the fast hands of Khan.
Barerra was ALWAYS going to start slow and Khan was always going to start fast with many people seeing Barerra slowly but surely catching up with Khan in the middle of the fight. Khan was ALWAYS going to win the first few rounds anyway.
The cut meant that Khan won on a technical knock out as he was ahead on points at the time. Khan could have chosen to take the victory with some grace but instead decided to "gob off" about how good he was.
GET THIS AMIR!!!! You beat a man who was virtually BLIND, and at the very least a rematch should be made because if you think that beating a BLIND legend makes you the real deal, your mistaken.
Of course you looked good, but lets face it, how many boxers would have been fighting back coherently given the enormous damage caused by your head, not your fists. I could have beaten Barerra on Saturday as he was spilling blood at such a rate it even hit the camera lens in the corner.
REMATCH REMATCH REMATCH - BUT YOU WILL DODGE, NO DOUBT!
