Right, I don't pretend to be a boxing expert, but from what I saw Amir Khan looked a class act last night. I'm not saying he's ready for Marquez, but he looked good. To beat Marco Antonio Barrera is an amazing feat for anyone, even at his age. I think even without the cut Khan would have won, as before it Khan was using his jab well and throwing good combos. In fact, didn't he almost have MAB down? And from what I saw, when Khan was hit clean, he looked to take it quite well. I'd say get him in with Prescott again and show it was a blip before chasing world titles. Maybe David Diaz would be a target also? Or even Jesus Chavez?
The cut was unfortunate, but I think it saved MAB from getting planted on the floor. Before the match, I thought Khan was going to be in hospital before 12, but when it started I was impressed with his speed and how he was getting his hands back up as soon as he threw some punches. He had Barrera up against the ropes, Khan throwing some quick, big combos. I was impressed how MAB stood up to those, as those who Khan had fought before usually go down to those. It shows the heart MAB has, and the chin. It also showed something that MAB wanted to carry on - what heart he has; the heart of a warrior.
I think Barrera should look to maybe Yusuke Kabori? They're both former champs, and I think that would mean another W on MAB's scorecard.
Please say what you think, although I'm fed up with excuses for MAB, as he would've lost anyway.
