Was a Roach a significant factor?

Unless he told him to go out there and headbutt the ***er then NOPE
He will be significant to him though and already is
but didnt have to do much in this fightComment

That's the fight for me.
I believe Katsidis is just a few notches down from being bonafide world-class. He arcs alot of his punches, he has a dubious chin ( not as bad as Amir's obviously), he also cuts to ribbons.
Khan would probably destroy Katsidis, I've been saying this long before Roach was in on the equation and even after he got embarrassed by Prescott. Khan is a more talented fighter with far greater ability.Comment

0% Roach factor? Not even 1%?That's the fight for me.

It was only one fight, so I don't take too much away from this. He looked good in front of his hometown crowd against an old washed up stud, showed that lanky speed and good pop that sets him apart, at least appeeared to be a little more disciplined, but there's still a lot of questions imo....specifically his soft beard and how dos he handle a live opponent not dealing with a messy cut and is bringing it to him. Having said that, I do think it was good move from FR to basically sequester Khan before the fight from all his hangers on. His experience with 2 Barrera fights also brought something to table I don't think any new trainer has. His guy passed so I give him credit, but it's only one fight, so he's obviously a work in progress.Comment

Probably, I'm not sure if the WBO sanctioned this to be an eliminator but this is one of the fights I can see JMM taking at 135, it's a big money fight. I've read there have been some small talks of having Marquez fight Khan in the UK so I wouldn't be surprised at all if he's fighting for a title in his next fight, he'll definitely get a title shot in 2009 as long as he keeps winning.Last edited by Silencers; 03-14-2009, 10:20 PM.Comment

Oh Roach makes this even more winnable.
Before there would have been the chance of Khan hurting Katsidis rushing in and getting sparked. Or just getting levelled with a wide-punch whilst he is mid combination.
Roach already has improved Khan's defence 100%, Khan didn't have a defense. He had an offence is my defence approach like Calzaghe really. He doesn't have the chin for that though.
The way Khan fought tonight with his hands snapping back to his head, his choices of when to close the distance and when to keep distance where the results of quality sparring, Katsidis would have practically ZERO chance against Khan if he consistantly made the right choices. Khan would outclass him completely. Before Roach he may have got levelled against the run of the fight.
All this is not to say that Katsidis can't still knock Khan out. I'll never be that confident about Amir, lol.
I'd be very confident, lol, in picking Khan against Katsidis though. Earlyish stoppage.Comment
