  • *Reasons to like AMIR KHAN*

    - At just 17 years of age, unknown Amir Khan managed to capture the silver medal at the Athens olympic games. Before the games, people were claiming that the United Kingdom had no chance of winning anything in boxing.

    - Amir Khan is an exciting fighter. People criticise his lack of defense but he never fails to put on a good exciting performance and for that reason is one of the most exciting fighters in boxing.

    - Khan has actively worked very hard to try and create better relations between British ******s and the wider community. He has spoken out against fundamentalist speakers that the British government has failed to take care of and as a result has been slandered by a large section of the ****** community. This has also made him a target for ********* attacks as intelligence reports have stated.

    - After the 2005 Kashmir earthquake in Pakistan, Khan flew over and handed out food parcels to children in one of the camps.

    - After an arson attack on a family in Bolton, firefighter Steven Morris was badly burned trying to save the family. Amir Khan helped raise £6000 for him.

    - Since winning the olympics, Khan has become an ambassador for the NSPCC to help combat bullying and child abuse. "Some children just dream of a life free from abuse and cruelty. I hope my appointment will encourage more children to have confidence to speak out and believe in themselves.”

(On why people do not do anything about child cruelty)
"Some people think it's not their business and they're not going to help but there are a lot of people out there who want to help, like myself, and if I know someone who is being bullied I'm going to help them."

    - Amir Khan helped raise £107,000 for the Tsunami victims by taking part in a sponsored run. He is also the leading figurehead for the No Messin' campaign that promotes child safety around British railways.

    - Amir Khan spent £1,000,000 of his own money building a boxing gym in Bolton to help get youths off the street. This was also seen in the TV programme "Amir Khan's angry young men". The programme centred around troubled angry men and aimed to use the disciplines of boxing, coupled with faith and family values, to help re-focus their lives and steer them away from trouble in the future.

    - After he lost the Prescott fight, Khan got himself back in the gym the next day and re-focused himself for the future. People can diss Amir Khan all they like but it is clear he wants to fight the best and is dedicated to the sport of boxing.

These are just a few reasons to like him. The reason for making this thread was the constant rubbish I frequently hear about Khan being arrogant and ****y. How many 22 year old millionaires are so active in charity work like Khan is? I understand Barrera is a popular fighter but the hatred and desire to see Khan knocked out is unwarranted.

Well said. You might see reasons not to rate him as a fighter, but the guy is a class act out of the ring and his intentions as a professional fighter are honourable, even if they are unrealistic.

he's one of them "dim but nice" kids you see around the way

do you really need to come and make threads trying to convince people to like him though? if you like him, you like him; if you don't, you don't

the reason he gets some "hate" is more down to the media and his fans than him... The love he gets still greatly outweighs the hate however

It's not Amir Khan the person I don't rate, it's Amir khan the Pro boxer.

As a Human being he's first class.

As a boxer he's not even a proven top 40 fighter yet he's supposedly headlining a PPV and being lined up for a title shot. Most of his fights have been against lower weight journeymen and bums, the one top 20 fighter he faced had him out of there inside a minute, yet 1 bum later he's fighting a eliminator for a title shot, a title shot that I have no doubt will be for a vacant belt against a journeymen or another lower weight fighter.

It's a sad state of affairs.
