Like someone said, depends how Barrera looks. He is not shot, but he is passed it. One can argue it may be a Hatton-kosta tszyu

Eubank was a great fighter in his prime but even though he was past prime when he fought calzaghe, calzaghe was green so their experience levels cancelled each other out. So yes, it was quite a big deal. Probably his best win after kessler, hopkins, lacy

Eubank was only 31, and had not been in nearly so many tough fights. He didn't appear to be past prime or shot at all in the fight with Calzaghe.
There was definitely some lustre missing from Eubank, but he was still a very tough and physically able threat...Chris wasn't renowned for stamina, but his experience made a still developing Calzaghe work hard for 12 rounds. Factor in the late notice and you've still got an underrated win...some people here talk like it's no feat at all to beat a live version of Eubank at the same stage of a career as Khan's at now. Would probably be a lot more appreciated, though, were it not for the spotty, mostly indifferent string of defences which followed. The Eubank fight didn't really kick him on as it should have.

How greatly MAB's physical abilities appear to have faded should determine how much credit Khan gets for a win. I didn't see his last 2 fights, but the consensus on his performance in those doesn't seem to bode well. Factor in he's the much smaller man and an old 35 from all the warfare. Khan's physical attributes should win him this fight combined with a modicum of strategic nous and any kind of solid defence. It's a nice feather in Amir's cap and a solid win if he gets it. No more.

Calzaghe's defeat of Eubank should be regarded higher.

Your poll is a Joke....You have TWO OPTIONS that say that Barrera is Past his Prime..Two options huh? then u ask if that win is better than Calzaghe over Eubank? Immediately It seemed to me that u are trying to make Calzaghe's win sound more impressive that it really was for some reason....So while i was typin this i opened up a new window cause i cant press "back" otherwise what im typin here would disappear..so i opened up a new window went back to this thread and i noticed that youre from Whales....lmao..NOT suprised at all and now i see this is just a pathetic attempt to make callzaghe's win sound great cause youre probably a calzaghe fan who's making Khans [win?] sound less of an achievement...Its sad. Khan wont get not credit for some cause of the 'Barrera is way past it' hype..

ofcourse Barrera opposition lately has been a joke..but seeing how he has been performing the last 4 fights i have no problem givin Khan full credit if he gets the win..

Blatant lies. Nobody rates it? Are you out of your mind? I always said it is one of his best wins. Take everything into account -- even a slightly older version of Eubank (31) was a huge step up for a young Joe Calzaghe. Eubank had twice as much experience, and most importantly, he was still a very strong, dangerous fighter as proven by the fact that he gave Joe hell for 36 minutes.

I had Eubank winning the first Thompson fight. The second one was stopped due to damage to his right eye. Before the damage occurred, I seem to remember him being competitive, though. Thompson is quite underrated. He was a very tough fighter. Who was Haye's sole loss to? Ah yes, Thompson. An older version, at that.

You are incorrect, by the way -- Eubank had a fight at 175 planned, not Cruiserweight. He dropped 7 pounds back down to 168 with a couple of weeks notice to fight Calzaghe, so admittedly the preparation wasn't ideal, however, losing 7 pounds in 2 weeks should not be a huge problem for most fighters, and it wasn't unusual for Chris to make weight close to a fight anyway.

Eubank was not "shot", he was NEVER shot. I wish you would stop lying.

Eubank was a GREAT win for JC. End of story.

Just watched the Ventura and Rojas fights and it's hard to tell. Both looked out of their depth, both seemed like they were there to be carried until Barrera decided he'd worked out enough.

He looked sleepy, maybe misleadingly...I don't know what to think until I see a couple rounds of tonight's fight, to which you'd expect he'll bring a lot more. Will be interesting to see how much he looks for Khan's body...Gomez showed a glimpse of how significant investment to the body against Khan could profit the smaller fighter. Khan should be wary of being caught upstairs, so maybe the body will present more of a target.

Still and all, Khan has every physical advantage and youth plus inside knowledge on his side. If his movement is good and his guard stays tight his speed should deal with Barrera and take him to a UD at least. All things considered, I think the loss would say more about him than the win. But if he wins and looks very accomplished doing it, he deserves credit. Joe's win over Eubank deserves significantly more, though.

Maybe he means on this board. He's right. Hardly anybody here seems to rate it much (except Stans). Eubank doesn't even seem to be that respected here.
