Adrian Diaconu Getting Eager as Branco Approaches

WBC light heavyweight champion Adrian Diaconu (25-0, 15KOs) sat ringside at the Bell Centre in Montreal, watching Lucian Bute retain his IBF title by stopping Fulgencio Zuniga in four rounds. Diaconu, a Romanian fighter like Bute, defends his title against veteran Silvio Branco in Rome on April 10. [details]

If Diaconu wins and Glen Johnson forces his mandatory position it will make for a hell of a fight.

The only time Diaconu really impress me was when he fought Rico Hoye. Never again. Chris Henry is a bum, and Diaconu couldn't knock him out. Henry almost got him in the later rounds. Johnson should win, but he's a stationary fighter. He may get caught with a punch, but then again nobody Knocks Johnson out. I think Shaun George would be a good fight for Diaconu. Then again, George would be to much for him. That boy could fight. I don't think Chad Dawson is interested in fighting Diaconu. This weight class has a lot of different matchups. I love the LHWs. Let hope they can make matchups.

Henry ain't a bum,he is a solid fighter, not anywhere close to elite but he is solid and nobody knocks him out.And it was Diaconu who had him almost out in the 8th.
Anyway yeah I agree Johnson should beat Diaconu, maybe even stop him but it would be a hell of a fight.FOTY type candidate.
George vs Cloud I would like to see.I don't like George that much since he is a CW figting at LHW.

I've seen George at the ESPN Zone a few years ago when he was fighting at CW, and trust me... He no CW. He was standing next to Virgil Hill when Hill was training to fight Henry Maske for one of the ABCs titles. I remember me saying that George is way too small for the CWs, and that he should move down. It's a better fit. I think it's great for the light heavys. I do agree with you that George vs Cloud would be a good fight, but I'm not sold on Cloud yet. I only seen him fight once, and that was against Gonzalez. My question to you is.... Who couldn't look good against Gonzalez at that time? I watch George over the years, and he just getting better... I love to see improvement in fighters. I didn't like Migal Cotto when he first turn pro. I thought he was all hype. When he fought Torres, and Corley. I thought to myself. I was right ) but what I didn't see was the determination he had. H =e made me respect he. Now he's on of my favorite fighters. Just a thought...

George has never been a cruiserweight, really.

I've been working with him for years so I know his eating habits before a fight. When he fought John Douglas right after losing to Matt Godfrey, that was the first fight where he didn't binge eat before a weigh-in to put on 7-8 pounds at the scales.

He weighed 184 and looked about 2 divisions smaller than his opponent. He moved up to fight Jermell Barnes because they were offering a fringe belt and a ranking, expediting the process of what he was looking for.

Think about, if he was really a cruiserweight, which has a limit of 200 pounds, how does he get to 175? Trust, he is way too small for the 200 pounders of the world. He was always a light-heavyweight fighting as a cruiserweight.
