By Jake Donovan - Wilfredo Vazquez Jr continues to put plenty of distance between his star on the rise and the claim that he’s just the son of a former three-division world champion. The rising undefeated super bantamweight further proved his worth Friday night in Kissimmee, Florida when he dominated divisional trialhorse Jose Angel Beranza over twelve rounds. [details]

To be honest, I would like to have seen him close the show a little stronger. Beranza's past it, but is a tough nut. Stopping him would've made a much greater statement.
But what I liked about his performance is that he never wilted when forced to contend with Beranza's roughhousing.
I agree on his arrogance. I guess an apologist would call it extreme self-confidence, but however you dress it up, it won't sit well with the masses once he makes it to that next level. But at least his bravado is limited to taunting. He doesn't fight that way and take any foolish chances.Comment

Ive always said that when it comes to the Boricua fighters...Many people have higher expectations for them (especially a certain other Latino group)...Vasquez has like 14 fights and fights a fighter with over 30 and 25 KOs....and "some people" give him no credit...like he was suppose to be fighting for a belt already....lolComment
