Barrera v Khan - My Thoughts

    My analysis…

    Khan

He’s younger, faster, fitter and bigger but on the other hand has far less experience and can’t take a punch to save his life. He was seriously shook by a jab (the softest punch in boxing) in his 2nd to last fight and then completely knocked out 30 seconds later. Knocked out by a guy that nobody had ever heard of and still has hardly heard of since he knocked Khan out. Since that fight he’s started training with Freddy Roach, Manny Pacquiaos trainer in LA. He does look better since training with Roach but has only fought an absolute nobody in Oiseen ***en since then so we can’t really judge how much better seeing as he’s only been in the ring with a bum.

    Barrera

Barrera is widely regarded as one of the best boxers of the past 20 years and ranks # 43 on ESPN's 50 Greatest Boxers Of All Time, a list Khan will never even get near. For all of you that have never heard of him he’s the guy who gave Prince Naseem Hamed his first and only ever loss and ultimately ended his career. He’s a 3 weight, 7 time world champion where as Khan has never even fought at European level, never mind world level. Barrera has lost 2 fights since 2007. These fights were against Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez who are currently 1st and 3rd on the top ten P4P list (they are regarded as the 1st and 3rd best boxers in the world at any weight). He has had 53 more fights than Khan and had his first professional fight when Khan was only 2 years old.

    Conclusion

Although Khan is a good boxer he receives far too much attention for beating people nobody has ever heard of. He’s never fought anybody worth noting where as Barrera has been fighting the very best in the world for the past ten years. Even though Barrera is 35 and obviously coming towards the end of his career he should still be far too good for Khan seeing as Khan has never been in the ring with anybody even half as good as him. He’s knocked out more than twice as many people as Khan has fought!

If Barrera is even 50% as good as he was when he was younger then it should be enough to beat Khan. He’s a better boxer, smarter, more durable, more experienced and simply won’t make the mistakes that the rest of Khans lower level opponents make. He will also capitalize on every single mistake Khan makes. Add that to the fact that Khan can’t take a punch and very often leaves himself open I can only see one outcome.

    Barrera to win by KO.

Really? Wanna bet 5K on Barrera over Khan??

If Amir can't outbox Barrera to a decision then he should call it quits, seriously.

I don't know how you can say "if Barrera is 50% of what he used to be, he will beat Khan". What if he is 50% of what he used to be and Khan beats him? It seems like a cop out to me. That way if Barrera loses, you can say he is shot, and if he wins Khan is ****.

He is shot, or he isn't, make your mind up? I for one don't think Barrera is what he used to be, but I don't think he is shot. He is an aged warrior who still has a little left in the tank. Taking Pacquaio and Marquez the distance proved it.

Yeah i'll take your 5k off you no probs.

If it goes the full 12 then Khan has a chance because he's a lot fitter but I think Barrera would have knocked him down a few times in the early rounds so Barrera will get the nod on points anyway.

It said "if Barrera is EVEN 50% of what he used to be". Not if he is.

and no I dont think he is shot. You have misinterpreted what I said. What I mean is that Barrera is that much better than Khan, even now he's older and he's not got the stamina he used to have he will still beat him.

Khan would have been knocked out in the first 2 rounds if Barrera was still 28-30yrs old. Now he's 35 and not quite as elite as he once was he still has enough in the tank to beat Khan.

Anyone who goes life and death with Willie Limond and gets knocked down in nearly every fight is going to have trouble with Barrera even if he is shot (im not so sure). Im still sticking to Barrera by KO.

                Cool, sig it.

Barrera is certainly a live underdog courtesy of Khan's glass jaw. I suspect that his defense will have tightened up by now, so he should earn a comfortable points win.

We'll see. Khan has never been with anybody close to Barreras level. Eveysingle time he makes a mistake or drops his hands hes getting chin checked!

That's possibly one of the most biased posts i've ever read.
