Margarito - Cotto fight

I think Jones disqualification had more to do with the effect of the punch.

What was the guy's name? McCallum???

EDIT: Griffin, Montell Griffin. I always forget the guy's name.

He got hit taking a knee (uppercut if i remember correctly) and lurched forward and hit the canvas face first. Lederman argued that it was acting, since the guy seemed to be fine within minutes...but Jones shouldn't have done that nonetheless. It wasn't like a fury rained down and the guy got hit in between the standing and taking a knee. He went down, Jones rushed in having time to react and still stepped in and took the shot.

Margarito's situation was similar, but Cotto didn't seem affected by it, althought I'm not defending Margarito. I've seen that many times, Cotto was standing sideways, bend over, took a knee in a subtle fashion, Margarito was about to throw a left uppercut, held it back...then threw the right hand while Cotto was down.

I'm reminded of what someone on these boards said about that...if Cortez had been there and had disqualified Margarito...there probably would've been a riot right then and there.

Jones did it against Griffin.

I don't think the punch changed anything, Cotto was pretty much done by that point.

It's just that I've never heard of anyone bringing this up, that blow might of had even changed the course of that fight. At least one point should of had been deducted, RJJ was disqualified for the same offense, remember?

its not funny or anything but roy does sock the **** out of montell when he was on his knee

griffin fell face first to the canvas like roy temporarily KOed him...

it was definitely wrong but the way griffin fell
