And he got into serious negotiations with Hopkins, which Hopkins pulled out of at the last moment due to his animosity with Don King, apparently. And he frequently called out Jones; and whether you believe he was serious or not isn't the point - Pavlik has never called out Abraham or Sturm.

Abraham is very keen to fight Pavlik at the moment, but Arum keeps saying a fight with Abrahams "isn't lucrative enough", which is pathetic. So that's an unfair comparison.

Calm down. You don't have to bring the former P4P king (something Calzaghe never ever achieved) Roy Jones into this. You don't get the label of P4P king by ONLY fighting bums. Sure every fighter has fought them.

Anyway I was talking about Peter Manfredo... a "TV Star" Fighter. It wasn't meant to be an insult.

Man.. Some people are so defensive about Calzaghe. Tells you a lot about the fighter. Its all good though. I understand.

I actually like Mora. But I can easily see Pav doing that. It's a pointless fight and anything less than a EARLY KO is bad for Pav.

That was just to raise his profile in the US, where Manfredo was still better known that Calzaghe was. It's not like he took it in preference to a unification fight that everyone was calling for at the time. Pavlik is already much better known than Mora is, and everyone is calling for him to unify. Not being defensive, just don't think it's a fair analogy.

NOBODY in the US knows Peter Manfredo from Peter Pan.

I don't believe that at all..lol Manfredo was and still is a nobody....... They were equal when it came to the who's who in the US. It wasn't until the "HYPE" of the Calzaghe Manfredo fight did his (Manfredo's) name get known. lol.....

Joe wanted to fight an American "TV star" bum and that's what he got. I'm just saying don't knock PAV for taking an easy (look good) confidence building fight with Mora who is better than and more accomplished than Peter "the tv star" Manfredo. Now if the fight following this is shyt, than people can talk.

But its really annoying how anything one can say about Joe, people take it badly... Like I said that explains a lot about the future "HOF" fighter.....

                No hate.

                  Who's the bum?

I am amazed with all the people here that call boxers bums, tomato cans, etc. They may not be as good as others in the sport but that doesn't make them bums. Boxing is one of the hardest sports to practice and I bet that writing nonsense on a computer sitting at home or at work is a lot easier than putting on some gloves and getting in the ring. I do agree that Pavlik should fight A.A. or Sturm but that doesn't make Mora a bum. He has accomplished more than most of us writing crap here.

                    Good point.

If he fights Mora and then Duddy, though, that would be very bad for boxing. Not because they're tomato cans, but because the division is crying out for big unification fights, and he's the lineal champion and should be trying to make those fights happen.

And although I blame Arum more than Pavlik, the fact that Pavlik has never to my knowledge expressed any interest in fighting Abraham or Sturm, still less called either of them out, looks very bad to me.

Should be quick and painless for Pavlik - quick and painful for Mora.
