Kelly Pavlik-Sergio Mora Agreement Reached

By Robert Morales - Promoter Bob Arum informed Boxingscene.com on Wednesday afternoon that he has come to terms with Sergio Mora’s team for a fight between Mora and middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik.

Once finalized, the world middleweight title fight will take place either June 20, July 18 or July 25, and most likely in Atlantic City.

"I have talked to (Mora's promoter) Jeff Wald and everything is OK from their side," Arum said via telephone from Boston.

Arum, who promotes Pavlik, said that he still has to meet with the fighter and his team before an accord can be reached. Arum said he would be meeting with Team Pavlik next week in Las Vegas in hopes of finalizing the deal. [details]

I like Mora (no joke) he's an awkward, tough fighter with some handspeed. Pavlik is my dude though, he'll pressure his ass, be the bigger man and tag him hard.

Its all Arum's fault not Pavlik. But if you cant get Arthur i dont mind a Pavlik-Mora fight and put Cotto in the undercard im cool with that.

Has Pavlik ever said he wants to fight Abraham and Sturm? If so I didn't hear it.

Dont hate on Pavlik for taking the Joe Calzaghe road!

At least Calzaghe said frequently he wanted to fight Ottke and unify, but Ottke made it clear that he had no interest in fighting Calzaghe. And he then fought Lacy to unify, and at that time nearly everyone thought Lacy would kill him. And Brewer, Sheika, Reid, Eubank, Woodhall and Mitchell were still highly rated when they fought him. And he got into serious negotiations with Hopkins, which Hopkins pulled out of at the last moment due to his animosity with Don King, apparently. And he frequently called out Jones; and whether you believe he was serious or not isn't the point - Pavlik has never called out Abraham or Sturm.

Abraham is very keen to fight Pavlik at the moment, but Arum keeps saying a fight with Abrahams "isn't lucrative enough", which is pathetic. So that's an unfair comparison.

Pavlik needs to fight some new styles. i give him till the end of the year to fight abraham or I'm forgetting about him until he is looking abraham in the eye in the ring.

This is some of the wackest news i've heard....I'm still trying to figure out why in the hell Mora keeps getting opportunites for championship fights when he ***in sux.....And the fact that pavlik isnt stepping up competition is very dissapointing. Arum is milking this kid and not testing him against real threats and challengers....for ***s sake, Mora isnt even a top 10 middleweight.....i'm definitely not going to pay for this crap...this isnt a good fight for pavlik because the fact that AA and sturm are out there and dont fight anything like mora tells me Arum isnt trying to pit Pavlik against either of those 2......
