I'm only mad at the date. It means that Abraham would have to wait longer, and possibly not be able to make the weight by say..... September or October. ****.

Nonetheless, I'm not too upset at the opponent. Mora isn't great by ANY means, but if it's free, I don't care. Pavlik has taken on some big names and he can get some money fights out of the way, so long as he doesn't do it forever.

If a guy LIKE (preferrably, the man himself) Abraham came next, he'd have fought, Miranda, Taylor twice, Lockett, Hopkins, Rubio, Mora, and then Abraham. Really, can't be mad at that.

this is a very sensible observation on the situation. I don't like the fight to be honest, but the only worthy opponent for the middleweight crwon at the moment is Arthur Abraham. And if they are on conflicting schedules currently then you can't get too angry. However, I think both sides should drop everything and get their **** together and fight one another. The division and the sport needs it to happen, and damnit the fans deserve a fight of that magnitude as do the fighters themselves.

Pavlik seems to be following the early B-Hop career plan at middleweight.
Lost to somebody good (Roy Jones) then fight some half ass fights (Mercado, Lipsey, Frank, William Bo James ) before fighting good guys again.

Maybe it will all work out and we'll see him against AA eventually.

When was the last time the middleweight division was really cracking? The division has never been more then 4-5 deep for like a decade. People always talk about how soft heavy is but middle has been just as bad (imo).

Ill take your bait, the Mercado fight was before Hop ever even had a title. Frank was a last minute replacement for Lipsey and ranked #9 by the IBF.Hop knocked Frank out in 24 seconds, the fastest ever in an IBF title fight. Lipsey was the number one contender, whom Hop fought immediatedly after Frank and ended Lipsey's career. I have no problem with a champ fighting his mandatories, Mora isnt even rated.

And I don't think at that time there was an equivalent of an Abraham or a Sturm that he avoided fighting, was there?

It wouldn't be so bad if he was making it clear he would fight one of those two later this year, but Arum has been giving the exact opposite impression, claiming that fighting them "isn't lucrative enough", although both have had prime time US exposure, and although with Abraham's style, and the fact it would be a unification, it would be easy enough for any promoter worth his salt to get the public interested in it.

Instead he's been saying that he'll fight Duddy next, and giving the impression that he'll avoid the only meaningful fights there are in the division for as long as he possibly can.

I wouldn't be surprised if Sergio Mora doesn't get knocked out. His slippery movement was too much for Vernon to not knock him out, let alone Pavlik's flatfooted ass. This is definitely someone good for Pavlik. A slick style with no power, a good way for him to learn to fight against a different style.

Pavlik is garbage. He was a one hit wonder when he KO'd Taylor after Taylor shot his load in their first fight. Taylor should have gotten the nod in the rematch. Now we get to watch Pavlik fight bums the rest of his career pretending to be a top fighter.
