Donald Curry was made out to be the best p4p fighter in the world for a short while before he lost to Lloyd Honeyghan. This was back when Hagler and Hearns were still going strong.

Wilfredo Gomez was also said to be the best fighter in boxing before he lost to Salvador Sanchez although there were no official pound for pound lists around at the time.
