If Miguel uses the same backward strategy he used against Tony he is done. Clottey will bring the pressure and he can over up easily with his great defense. I think Miguel is the better fighter overall but style-wise I think this fight is against his favor. Reason for this is because all of his last opponents (Judah, Mosley, Margo) kept their hands down and didn't have good defense. Judah was strategically broken down to the body, Shane was getting whacked in the face with counters, and Margo took everything Cotto had to give. Clottey will be much different as he will cover and counter the entire fight. I think Cotto's greatest chance is to try to catch Clottey while he is lunges as this is his weakness. He likes to lunge at his opponent with those triple left hooks often times leaving his feet and having his head exposed. Cotto is better but Clottey wins by late TKO because styles make fights and Clottey's style benefits him more and essentially eliminates Cotto's style for the most part.

I would not get my hopes up. I currently live in Puerto Rico and I have not seen any news on this fight being confirmed on Cottos part. I hope it is true though. I think this is Just Clottey pressuring Top Rank and Cotto's Camp to accept.

If this fight goes down im tossin money down on Clottey on this one... Clottey is a big man for Cotto and his speed looked damn good in the Judah fight. Id have to bet on Clottey cause i like his chances but i ain't got nothin against Cotto, if i dont end up betting ill prob be rooting for Cotto to be honest.

Here's the thing
Miguel Cotto takes a lot of pride in his power & aggression but Joshua Clottey is not the one to back down from no fighter so it could be a problem for Cotto to adjust. In most of Cotto's fights when he is against someone that can **** and hang with his power he has a tougher time. Guys like Jennings/Gomez could
make Miguel too confident.
For instance when he fought Gomez he had the most confident look on his face in the ring but when he was in with Margarito he had no answer to the pressure and the fact that he couldn't hurt Margarito. Clottey is not known for getting hurt in the ring with exception to damaging his hands. Clottey has the defensive style, chin and power that can turn out to be a problem for Cotto especially if Clottey brings it to him.
By Clottey saying he was going to take the fight to Cotto that just goes to show that he watched the Margarito fight and saw pressure is Cotto's downfall. That's why I didn't feel like fighting Gomez before Margarito was a good idea and coming back to fight Jennings. In Cotto's defense if Clottey tries to stand and exchange with Cotto then it will give Cotto more time to plan his body attack.
If Clottey lets Cotto sit on his punches & time them then Clottey will lose.Last edited by GRUSTLER; 03-11-2009, 02:44 PM.

If Clottey tries to bring the fight to Cotto hell get KO, witth body Punches. Cotto wont be backing up this time and if Clottey opens up more, thats more opportunities for Cotto to lnad head shots. I do believe Clottey will try ti fight in te middle of the right blocking shots and trying to counterpunch Cotto. thats his dsafest bet, if he tries to go out of his character and tries to go foward and pressure cotto hell get KO, if he stas in the middle of the ring counter punching he have a better chance!!!!1
If Clottey brings the fight to Cotto, this will look like Cotto-Abdullaev!!!!!!!!

Cotto flat-out ducked this guy
Floyd Mayweather
Cotto was too cowardly to even say those two little words.
"My managements tells me who to fight"
LOL
He punked-out everytime those HBO cameras were in his face.
Cotto didn't want anything to do with getting slice-up by Mayweather..that's why he PUNKED-OUT.

I think a lot of people are dismissing the fact that Cotto is going to be one of the hardest punchers (maybe top 3) Clottey's ever faced. How do people think Clottey will just walk through Cotto's punches that easily?
Clottey doesn't necessarily have this mega power that some say he has. He uses his defense and depends heavily on countering (which he's good at). But people talk about him pressuring Cotto or taking Marg's game plan and implementing that, but in reality Clottey doesn't fight that way. He does have to corner Cotto and use some type of pressure, but anyone who's seen Clottey fights knows he's not necessarily a balls to the wall 12 round fighter.
Cotto wins. You gotta put heavy pressure on Cotto to beat him, but Clottey doesn't and won't fight that way...and I'm a fan of Clottey's.
