Will fat yanks accept him as one of the atgs if he wins?

No. He's a good fighter but not an ATG. His resume, even with a win over Pac, does not merit recognition in the ATG list. HOF, yes.

This mythical "ATG"stuff is never truly explained by anyone on here. Has someone actually bothered coming up with a list?

I dont believe in it. The game has changed so much through the years with money, politics, tv etc playing a much bigger role. The environment is so different so I dont see how you can directly compare the best from today to the best from other eras.

All you can do is be comparable to your peers and judged by your generation. IMO.

Both Tszyu & Castillo were not at their respective peaks when Hatton fought them so I'd hardly use them as a basis for an ATG claim.

I watched the fight again just recently, I called it spot-on and the HBO commentary team were with me all the way - even criticising Cortez (and they're even fat Americans!)
