    Boxing v mma

IS MMA going to over take boxing and is the future of boxing in doubt??

i think over the last few decades boxing as totally decreased in popularity, once when big fights were held in 100,000 seater places, like ali once fought a nobody in blue lewis at croke park and these days the biggest fight in modern time mayweather v oscar was held at the mgm,

in this day and age i feel a top mma card would out sell a top boxing card both in seats and ppv...

i think the big advantage mma has over boxing is the big fights that everyone wants to see in mma happen, where as boxing can have two or three great champions at the same weight but never fight each other!!!

heavy weight boxing as always being the main attraction but with the state of heavy weight boxing at the min could mma over take it....

biggest nams in mma are know equally globally known as the biggest names in boxing, dont get me wrong i prefer boxing i just feel boxing as a whole needs a good shake up, unify belts or something... get the big fights on!!!

i know boxing still pays much more but is the future MMA??

Uhm the highest PPV event in 2008 was boxing and the highest live gate also belongs to boxing. And ***** please do not bring that MMA fighters are much internationally known than boxers outside nobody in Europe or Russia knows **** Lesnar but I'm pretty sure that they know who the klitchko brothers are.And I also doubt that Fedor is more popular than Wladimir or Vitali in HIS OWN ***IN COUNTRY.Another Idiotic poster face it MMA will be always Boxing's *****

It was only a year or two ago that Joe Calzaghe filled 50k+ seats when he fought Mikkel Kessler in Wales. I would call that pretty respectable.

The 100k+ seater days of boxing are over becuase of PPV. People arent goin to travel half way round the world to see theyre favorite fighters when they can sit in the comfort of their homes with a few bruskies!

MMA proposes a serious threat to Boxing in the way that top fighters fight the top fighters in MMA, this is a rareity in Boxing (with a few exceptions)

But i dont think it will ever out weigh boxing, if anything i think it has peaked. With the continued pressure to take out some of the manovers deemed to dangerous in MMA its becomeing ever more predestrianised and is looseing its edge.

Simple question, what would you rather see, Fedor vs Lesnar or Pacman vs Mayweather

The whole Boxing is dying thing is bollocks. It is two different sports and room for both. MMA will only help Boxing in the future same way Boxing will also help MMA in the future.
