I don't know how anyone can pick Mayorga by knockout when he hasn't scored one in six years. Truthfully, Mayorga is 3-4 in his last 7 fights, with three of those losses coming by knockout. I like Mayorga, he's a very nice guy and an entertaining character, but he hasn't been a serious fighter in a long time.

Kirkland has all of the momentum behind him as he's undefeated and winning fights by knockouts. He puts a lot of sustained pressure on his opponents and throws much straighter punches than Mayorga. Mayorga doesn't fight well in close because he doesn't throw short punches well. He needs to get his opponents at a distance to unload those long looping punches.

We saw how poorly Mayorga took body shots from Trinidad so he has a vulnerability there. Kirkland is a very good body puncher.

I just can't see anything in his recent fights to suggest that Mayorga could beat Kirkland.
