If Calzaghe had normal fists?

He would have been better, much like he was when he first started out, but also got smarter as he became more experienced.
Everyone on his resume should be embarrassed. They basically got bitchsplapped from pillar to post by a ****ing disabled Welsh guy. LOL.

Im not sure if he'd actually be better, when he still had the real power in his hands he wasn't actually that good of a fighter, when his hands became more brittle he learnt to adapt during a fight... which has become the main reason why he has won so many of his fights.Comment

Bernard (and his nuthuggers) should just move on, learn to accept the fact that he came away with an L in his right-hand column and nothing they say really matters. But for some reason it's a major ****ing deal.
I like Hopkins, I'm a long-time fan of his (since 1997), but people take things too far when it comes to his fight with Joe. What makes me laugh is half these nuthuggers are also fans of the old man slayer himself: Chad Dawson. Thing is, Chad is 10 years younger than JC, yet he fights 40 year-old men and calls out 36 year-old Calzaghe. It's a bit hypocritical, if you ask me.
Don't get me wrong, I like Dawson, and I gained even more respect for him because he wasn't a bitter little ****bag when Joe retired, but these same people who criticize Calzaghe (now age 37) for fighting Jones (39 at the time of the fight with Joe) and Hopkins (P4P #3, certified freak of nature who's age doesn't even seem to matter) happily praise Dawson, the guy who lost to 40 year-old Johnson (in my opinion), beat 40 year-old Tarver, is about to fight Tarver again, and called out old man Joe at age 36.
My thinking has always been the same: if you play the game, be prepared to get beaten. I don't give a **** about age, who's shot or who's not. It's just the way it is. A fighter will use every possible advantage to make the most money he can by beating you. Can't cut it no more? Well then, those expert trainers and dietitians you pay so highly need to tell you when it's time to get the **** out of the game. The fighter who beat the **** out of you shouldn't be criticized for doing his job. The only time I have sympathy is when a fighter has no choice but to fight in order to put food on the table and keep a roof over his head. Example: Sonny Liston at the end of his career. Otherwise, stop being a greedy bastard who's fighting only for the millions, take your beating and shut your trap.

I agree in a way, his ability to adapt to injury has been impressive, but JC's hand problems go way back to his early teens. At age 14, his doctor told him he should never fight again. That was way before his pro career even began. I disagree that he wasn't a good fighter before he adapted, by the way. He was a very good fighter with exceptional amateur achievements. The fact that he was trained by a failed jazz musician in an old shed makes his story kinda funny. He's done quite well considering the odds were pretty much against him from the start.
