    Diaz v JMM queston.....

Another topic someone made inspired me to ask this.

I can't remember (short term memory is being devoted to something else at the moment) but I am pretty sure Diaz's cut was considered to be from a punch?

Anyway, had the cut been determined to be an accidental headbutt, do you think it might have been smart for him to fake his way out of the fight and take his chances on the scorecards?

I mean I know it would have been sort of a ***** move, but he had to realise that the momentum in the fight had started going Marquez way, and that he himself didn't deal well with cuts.

Smart move, taking an educated risk with the cards

Bitch move, unforgivable, would have lost more respect for him than I did with the KO.

Could you imagine how pissed JMM would have been had Diaz gone that route and pulled out a win or draw. I wouldnt have wantd to be Diaz in that situation.

Good thing it was caused by a punch and Diaz didn't have that option.

The more I think about it, the more I think it would have been a bad idea. Given that Diaz is Mexican American, and like many Mexican American fighters is probably eager for Mexican fans to like him. I don't think beating their top star on a technicality would probably have made it especially bad for him.

It is good that it was a punch, because had it been a butt and a stoppage had occurred even if it wasn't Diaz's decision, and he had walked out with a win or draw, just the percpeption of it would be there among the fans.

Juan Diaz would never make a ***** move like that he has too much heart for that...didnt he prove that already? I mean the fight speaks for itself Diaz didnt back down from Marquez even when he knew he was out of it, he came forward and took it like a man. I gained more respect for Diaz after that fight!
