Isn't Sergio Martinez in that division?

I think he'd beat Kirkland, but everyone else, probably not. He hits hard and is fast, and his head is exceptionallly narrow must be like trying to tag a speed ball whilst somebody moves it around.

Kirkland throws more varied shots than Lacy..plus he's way tougher.

You can say that but Lacy still is more of a polished boxer.

Kirland needs to work a lot on his footwork, he is very far from fluid he reminds me of an MMA fighter in the ring

Kirkland is a better fighter than Lacy. Just because the man is black and has a stocky muscular build doesnt mean they are comparable. Kirkland has more tools, gets better angles(allowing him not to be bombed on as much), and just has a more overall grit about himself. Kirkland will go further than Lacy but if there was a Calzaghe type fighter at 154 I am sure Kirk would be defeated. There really isn't that type of guy yet so I expect Kirkland to clean up this division with somewhat ease. Thats right, Kirkland would make Angulo give up the same way he did to Julio.

Kirkland throws more combos, but he still lacks a Boxing brain, just like Jeff.

What leads you to believe Kirkland is way tougher? Ive never seen a lack of heart from Jeff Lacy in any of his fights, he was in a war with Mendoza and he had to get up off the canvas to win. Jeff didn't show any signs he wanted to quit against Calzaghe either.

Well if he lacks a boxing brain he's right at home at 154..lol

I don't see too many geniuses at Jr Middle.

Angulo sure isn't one.

Kirkland remembers to go to the body...and he there goes a LOT..that says plenty about his boxing IQ

Agree. In terms of whats out there AT 154lbs, he is definitely one of the better fighters.

Lacy had hell beating Sheika.

See the difference between Lacy and Kirkland is that Kirkland is a pressure fighter who keeps the distance between himself and his opponents closer than they want. His foot speed is superior to Lacy's, he closes the gap faster so he isn't open as much to getting caught with the big one at a distance.

I'd like to see Kirkland fight anyone, Yuri Foreman, Forrest-Martinez winner, Harry Joe Yorgey, whoever.

Yeah, you're right. Martinez and Williams would give him hell but I think Kirklands style could give them trouble, especially Martinez. Kirkland is still very young so I expect him to polish up his footwork and his D. The kid is the real deal and in a few years I think hes going to be a borderline face of boxing. I think hes going to have a better career than Left Hook for sure.
