Would you have given Mighty Mike a chance to recover?

This was a tough one to call, he looked out because he wasn't punching back and kept getting hit.
It was the 2nd round though...
It's hard to judge these. Then if he lets it go on to long he gets criticized for it too.
Mike should have took a knee. The fight prob. would have went a couple seconds longer.
I doubt he gets out of the round though.

You guys are looking at it as fans...Aranoutis was out! He took a big punch and then 8-9 punches and just covered up in the corner without returning punches. It is the ref's job to protect the fighter if he can't for himself...Sure as a fan I was wanting it to keep going but the ref did his job.

i think that the ref jumped the gun a bit on the stoppage, arnaoutis was stuned, no denying that, but i think that he could've been given a couple more seconds, just to see if he was going to try anything..........

but in fairness to ortiz, i think that the stoppage was just, making the case that ortiz wasn't going to let up anytime soon....... he had his man hurt and was putting it on like he should.

Mighty Mike was definitely on ***** St. He looked like he had 5 too many Gin & Tonics after getting tagged. I think HBO made a good argument for the stoppage. Once his arms involuntarily dropped, the ref jumped in.

He looked pissed about the ref's decision later after he recovered a bit once everything was over, but right when the fight was stopped, he was still stunned.

I think it was a really close judgement call that could easily go either way. When Ortiz landed the uppercut through Mike's gloves, his hands dropped and it would have ended after a few more punches. Not too bad, it was a fair stoppage.

Exactly, lol But ****...I wanted to see Ortiz get some work in. I mean Mike himself should have thrown some punches when he was in that corner, but he couldn't. So it was a fair stoppage in that sense.
