Off the top of my head I really can't think of anyone who hits harder @ 154.

      Kirkland Lacks Defense

I can't help but agree with you 100%. As much as like Kirkland, I said it in his last fight that his defense needs a lot of work. Unfortunately as with most pure offensively minded boxers they have to get knocked out first before they start to believe in defense.

I'm not taking away from his victory over a good opponent tonight but he has got to stop being completely offensive minded only. Anne Wolfe should just take him in the gym and work on nothing but defense for 2 weeks straight.

A more experienced fighter at 154 would take serious advantage of his poor lack of defense. If Joel Julio had been in better shape and stood his ground better that could have been disastrous for James considering that when Joel did actually stand his ground and punch he had very good success in landing his punches.

Anyway, the mega showdown @ 154 lbs will no doubt be James Kirkland vs Angulo (did I spell his name right?). Now that will definitely propel the winner into stardom.

Try the tough and rugged Mexican fighter Alfredo Angulo! Not only does he hit very hard but he also has the same seek and destroy mentality of James Kirkland. This fight must happen!

Yeah, El Pero is tough, but a little mechanical and dare I say kinda slow...I thought Kirkland looked more fluid and loose than ever tonight. A fight with Angulo would be fun while it lasts.

P Williams not a good match up for Kirkland. Williams is to active and would pick him apart.

This was easier for Kirkland than I could ever have imagined. Julio isn't great but he can hold his own and was just bulldozed. Kirkland needs a bit more control to fight some of the more diciplined boxers that don't rely on punching power so much as Julio does. Kirkland is no doubt an exciting fighter and needs to start wrangling up the titles. Santos should be his first goal for a title in my opinion.

In due time. I'd like for them to both beat at least one top competitor and be champs before they fight. I feel time and titles will make this bout more enjoyable when the top spot in the 154 lb division is cleared up more.

Williams also has glaring advantages and knows how to use them. However, a Kirkland blitz might be effective and it could be more competitive than you think. Though Kirkland needs to better his defense slightly. Once he blitz slowed down he was taking more shots regularly. P. Will don't tire and will take advantage of openings and put on a blitz of his own if Kirkland gives him those chances.

Cause there is no one, at least not anyone that boxing fans have be introduced to. Kirkland is hands down the hardest hitter at 154.
