Gomez isn't even as skilled as Kirk Johnson. Johnson hits harder and is faster..and almost as fat.

Gomez is in for an ass whooping.

OK let me retype my post.

Gomez isn't even close to as skilled as Chris Byrd- not even in the same league. What title did Gomez win with his boxing skill at HW again?

Take a look at their careers.

Have some of you actually watched Gomez fight? There's no way you'd be talking that rubbish if you'd seen him fight. In fact, you'd only need to look at his backround to give you an idea about how skilled he is. The guy's amatuer record is something like 158-2. He was an undefeated crusierweight champion. He moved up heavyweight, and defeated a reasonably highly thought of prospect at the time: Sinan Samil Sam, and made him look like an amatuer, throwing 960 punches in a 10 round fight. He gets rid of David Defiagbon in 3 rounds - a guy who took Oleg Maskaev 10 rounds. He wins two heavyweight title elimination bouts against tough opponents. And all of that while probably not being near his best. And yet he's some bum with no skill?

For goodness sake watch a few of the guy's fights or just keep the ignorant comments to yourselves. It's absolute drivel.

gomez has alot more skill then anyone brother k has faced, not to say he will win but if he comes in in shape will give him a fight. kirk johnson has more skill? come on be serious look at their records both am and pro and look at the opponents faced and beaten. kirk does not even come close, and byrd was good but gomez is better by far. and pure skill wise he can do more things in the ring then lennox could

If Nady hadn't called Danny off they'd have been taking Vitali out of there in a pine box.

Is this guy for real or another wind up?

You can never tell these days. Danny Williams got a world class ass beating by Vitali.

While he may be very skilled, I would have a hard time accepting that Gomez is as skilled as a prime Chris Byrd or even near as skilled as the latter-career Lennox Lewis. This fight is the real deal and Gomez would beat allot of guys in the HW division. But beat Vitali Klitschko? I think not. He would have a better chance beating Wlad , who struggled with Tony Thompson a little bit.

On top of all that, Gomez is bigger, stronger, and obviously has more power than Bryd.
I absolutely agree with that. And it looks like Gomez is taking training verry seriously and will be in great shape, he has improved his physical strenght and size in the last year, you could already see that in the Virchis fight. Hes a real heavyweight now and will be in even better shape against Vitali, he will be trim and strong! This will be interesting. I agree that Gomez is the most skilled heavyweight Vitali has ever faced.

Have you seen the press conference? Its in german though so you might not understand it!

                  And here some other video

its good to hear from a German boxing fan who as actual seen him fight because a lot of people have only seen cilps and think he is over-rated or somebody like sam peter. his skills are extra-ordinary from a lifetime of boxing and god given abillity. but just like most cuban heavyweights he lacks the proper dicipline to maximize his skills as a pro

The people who are underestimating JC Gomez have probably never seen him fight.

Download a video of Gomez vs. Sam, Virchis, Bahktov, or McCall - I think they're all in our videos section. This fighter has some excellent, world-class boxing skills. James Toney and others avoided him at cruiserweight for good reason.

He at least as skilled as Byrd, but bigger and much stronger. He's definitely better than other Vitali opponents, except of course for Lennox Lewis.
