Actually when my father hired some lawyer to do a family tree, I think that they said they were from closer up by the border...

My last name is De La Garza.... De La = of the...... So we were descendant of the Garza family....

Supposedly in the lat 1700's and early 1800's the De La Garza's were on of the richest families and owned hundreds of miles of land from Mexico in to Texas.... They sold off alot of land which is how they made more money....
