When your from N.Ireland you can be British Irish or both. It's personal preferance. Going by the the colours he and his corner were wearing he'd call himself Irish!
Saying as he's doing well the British media will call him British, and the Irish media will call him Irish.

I find the case of Rogan quite interesting. He was fighting for the commonwealth title, but its obvious he considers himself Irish...abit contentious considering the History between Britian and Ireland.

Also, if you are born in N. Ireland under the good Friday agreement you are able to choose whether you are British or Irish. The John Duddy case is an example of this.

For those who arent great at Geography, the emerald Isle is made up of 2 countries, The Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland is British territory, there is a group called the IRA who have for years been at war with Britain, but we are currently trying to sort this out with talks rather than setting off car bombs in city centres, etc.

Not really. It's always been a bit messy, Irish citizens are considered as 'commonwealth' for purposes of joining the British armed forces, as well.
