Never, probably! He seems to have the idea its a linear title (which is bloody ridiculous considering the whole point of p4p) firmly set in his head.

However IMHO if he beat Pacquiao convincingly you would need to consider what exactly he would have to do to get in that top five if that win didn't do it - and come to the conclusion, I'm afraid, that were he American or Mexican the answer would be 'nothing'. The current 'Ring' #5 is Shane Mosley FFS, solely on the basis of the win over Margarito.

Hatton was promoted straight to #4 when he beat Tszyu. He is #8 currently. He would probably be rated #4 or maybe even #3 if he beat Pacquiao, especially if it was a convincing win. To get to #1 he would have to beat at least one more future HoF fighter convincingly soon afterwards. Mayweather or Marquez would probably do it. (Not saying I expect him too be able to do that, though!)

          They won't out-sing them, though.

If Hatton beats Pac I would have him at 2. I would relegate Pac to 3, promote Marquez to 1.

            Marquez
            Hatton
            Pacquaio
            Hopkins
            Mosely

That would be my top 5. I already have Hatton around 6-7.

I think we're talking about where The Ring would rate him though. They currently rate him at #8.

Also a lot would depend on how convincingly he won - a convincing win would move him up further than a narrow win.

If he beats Pacquiao, it does not mean he is #1! He's not even top 5. Damn. I am honestly getting sick of hearing him say it. I can hear his voice in my head right now saying "pound for pound best fighter in the world" in a slightly nasal northern accent. If it isn't that, it's the ****** "Hatton Wonderland" song.

Ricky, please. Just stop. I am beginning to really ****ing dislike you. ****** Yorkshire pudding face.
Maybe he thinks if he keeps saying it people will believe him

                      Of course people like Manny...

Manny's a cool dude. Where's the surprise? He's nice to people, gives good interviews, he's the peoples champ.

Actually, I can see Ricky and Manny getting along pretty good. They both like to drink and gamble during their time off and are generally speaking guys who like to hang out the the people and have a good time.

Maybe after the fight they can booze it up and find some whores.
                      I know I would.
