It was the body shots that did it.
Shields could hear them over the crowd.

I had it a draw by the 6th.
But I knew Marquez was going to KO Diaz and was confirmed when Shields asked Diaz to box. The again later asked him to use more faints with his jab.
The only thing he had going for himself was the pressure.

95 or more of Diaz's punches were being blocked by Marquez.
All those punch's when Marquez was on the ropes were wasted. Diaz knew it. The Marquez would land a power punch and Diaz would back of to restart.

    Great fight.
Not FOTY though. Least not yet.

youre my boy but I didnt think he quit. Despite what the HBO crew said, I had JMM uip 5-3 going into the 9th and that was with me giving the first 2 rounds to Diaz. Even in the 2nd round when Diaz was doing really well, I was telling my friends that JMM is going to knock him out. They said I was crazy because Diaz was killing him but you could clearly see that he was too aggressive and he was running into crisp lazor shots every time. Even when Diaz was doing well, JMM was just to precise of a puncher for him and he was cutting him up everytime Diaz pressured. Im not saying Diaz did nothing because he clearly fought well but JMM was always landing the cleaner, sharper, harder punches

Diaz never quit, he was getting broken down as Marquez became more accurate as the fight went on. He was still fighting hard but eventually Marquez's skill overcame all the pressure and earned him the win.

I agree with every word. I had JMM up 77-75 at the time of the stoppage, it was clear he was getting more comfortable while Diaz was losing his momentum after the 3rd round.

People get like duped by the crowd and by the pressure, it's crazy. Diaz would pin up against the ropes, throw like 5 punch combination full of pitty patter punches, land one of them, and people freak out over it. Marquez was landing the sharper punches all night.

All credit to Diaz though, he fought his heart out. He was just fighting a guy that's on another level.

I had it 4-4 going into the 9th but the momentum was clearly with Marquez.

ANd i also got the sense that Marquez was on his way to a victory after the about the 3rd round, when he started landing almost everything he threw

He quit, are you crazy do you see that body attack? JMM is killing that body and JD has run into several clean shots to the head as well

He just doesn't really know how to watch a boxing match.
