Do you realise how many Filipinos live in manchester and England in general?? There are loooaaads of them everywhere these days - I should know, my gf is filipina - and they are more die-hard Pacquiao fans then the Ricky Hatton fans are, PLUS filipino TV shows alot more Pacquiao news - heck, they cover his every move, so they were more aware of the press conference than the Hatton fans. So of course they are going to turn up in huge numbers.

It does not mean that Pacquiao is more of a global icon, as the majority of people, if not all, who turned out to support Pacquiao were FILIPINO.
