Why not Mikkel Kessler vs. Glen Johnson?

thats the LAST place Kessler should wanna fight this fight......he'll just be another fighter that beat Glen on points in his European hometown
Kessler and Johnson in Florida.....in Johnson's house or maybe they can find a spot in Jamaica.......Kessler won't get more credit for beating a 40 yr old Glen Johnson in Denmark than he would if he did it on U.S. soil.......because Glen is 40 and fights at 175 would take alot of credit from a Kessler win.....a older fighter havin' to come down a few pounds to fight a fighter a decade or so his junior
.......not good for Kessler.......he needs to go to the Froch-JT fight and DEMAND the winner in a very loud and serious manner!

despite Johnson being a reasonably big name .. and very good fighter on top of it
what does Kessler really gain by fighting Johnson at 170, outside of his weight division (Kessler's Super Middle)?
and speaking of Kessler .. and word on what fight will actually happen? Is he really stuck facing another mandatory?
**if anything the Taylor/Froch winner would be a much better fight for MikkelComment

Kessler has wasted a lot of time this yearsince his management has failed to get any fight signed.
As it is now it's all about logistics. Kessler must defend against mandatory challenger Perdomo before July so any fight before that is not possible anymore. The Perdomo fight will happen next and likely in June.
In August or early September look for Kessler to defend against fellow dane Mads Larsen. That fight has to happen as the danes wants this fight badly.
After that Kessler can try securing a bigger fight. Options might include Taylor/Froch, Bute, Abraham. Johnson will be a bit down on the priority list the way I see it.
Kris: Johnson offered Kessler a fight at 170. The money Johnson offered was 500K $.Last edited by BattlingNelson; 02-28-2009, 12:55 PM.Comment

Theyr is speaking of a unification bout for spring 2010 between Kessler and Bute. But this is only speaking, it can go nowhere too.Comment
