Glen Johnson Exacts Revenge on Daniel Judah Over Ten

By Cliff Rold - Former Ring Magazine and IBF Light Heavyweight titlist Glen Johnson (49-12-2, 33 KO), the Jamaican road warrior fighting out of Miami, Florida, is 40 years old and has seen it all in his career. Big wins, unjust decision losses, and even the occasional unfair draw. He’s rarely had the chance to avenge the slights but got one such opportunity Friday night at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. In 2003, a draw versus a then-undefeated Daniel Judah (23-4-3, 10 KO) was met with catcalls, Johnson perceived the winner. Johnson left no margin for error this time, drubbing Judah for an easy unanimous decision win. [details]

Cong**** to Glen, Judah did pretty much nothing significant in that fight. I think Zab has way more heart.

Daniel Judah has even less skill than Zab, and doesnt have any of Zab's natural attributes. I am glad Johnson avenged that travesty of a draw from earlier in his career.

He's fast for a 40 year old, I agree. But it's obvious to me that he has slipped a lot in the last few years. He did look great against Chad Dawson in spots but that's largely because Dawson fought a very bad fight. You can't run from Johnson, just like you can't run from Margarito, you have to fight and back them up.

Against Judah he never got tired because Judah didn't give him a reason to be tired but he looked noticeably slower. His hands didn't come back quite as fast as they normally do, he just looked very vulnerable.

His body attack was sick as it usually is. Whenever Judah had him distance, Johnson had issues. Problem was that he lingered on the inside too much and was getting eaten alive.

                  Glen Johnson.

I respect Glen Johnson and I felt he definitely did enough to win the Dawson fight. Here's hoping that he gets a much deserved rematch, or at least a top tier fight that pays well. He is easily the most under-rated and "most avoided" fighter of LHW, and he should get a title shot. I would say he demolishes Bute, whips Garay, mops the floor with Erdei, and could very well dethrone Dawson this time. Never count out Johnson, his record may not look all that impressive but the man can fight!
