Oscar at 147 was a hell of a fighter and the dude who took him to the limit was Mosley. You can look at the Whittaker fight too and think that the speed still may be an issue, but to beat De La Hoya then you had to come after him and Mosley of all at 147 did the best job.

Floyd is simply a great technical fighter, but it may not be enough to beat the 147 Oscar.
De la Hoya didn't beat Whitaker and Mosley back then had speed to burn. So I don't see how you think speed isn't a issue.

Prime DLH has a good chance of beating Mayweather.

I go oscar for sure. He was faster than and used his jab alot more. When oscar used his jab when they fought floyd was held at bay. Another poster said the you needed to come a DLH back in his prime and that was true. Plus DLH was faster than himself. He looked like he was going through cement against floyd. Back than he was on his toes and pumping jabs. I dont think he KO's floyd but a UD would do.

I'm saying speed is an issue and always has been against Oscar, but as Oscar's career went on he became a little more cautious as opposed to earlier when he was at 147 where he wouldn't mind getting tagged a little to give off his own punches, plus he used his jab very well.

The Oscar that fought Floyd and the Oscar that fought Mosley are night and day. Floyd may still be able to win, but considering Floyd didn't look "That" great against the older Oscar, its tough to say Floyd would still beat him, easily at that during his prime at 147.

Ok I took the speed comment wrong point taken. In a way they were night and day and somewhat the same because even in his prime De la Hoya still gassed out. In the fight PBF wasn't forced to look great either. Never would say PBF beats De la Hoya easily in his prime.

IMO there are 2 fights in PBF career where in 1 he felt he needed his A-game and in the other he needed to put on a show. Those fights were the Corrales and Gatti fights. The PBF on his A-game is night and day from the fighter we see today also.

PBF rises to the level of his opponent, he would still win....

besides, Oscar would lose the lst 3 rounds because of stamina issues.

Floyd wins still. He's just a better fighter. Old Pernell lost a close fight to Oscar. Floyd hits harder than Pernell and also has superb defense. Oscar might be faster but I don't think it'll matter too much.
